Draught @ Olde Bryan Inn (6/28/19). Clear reddish brown with small creamy beige head, caramel aroma, high carbonation, medium bitter caramel taste, faint toffee, thin body, long finish. Quite nice.

On tap at C. H. Evans Brewing / Albany Pump Station, pours a hazy dark reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out gentle toasted caramel and bready malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted malt, dry caramel and a piney hop underpinning. Reasonably powerful body for a brown, but it's still rather uninspired.

Bottled. An unclear brown beer with huge tan head. The aroma has notes of caramel and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and metallic hops, leading to a dry finish.

cloudy brown, small white head. mild aroma, faint malty. flavor is malty, flowery hoppy, yeasty.

From tap. Pours hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and breadish. Toasted, breadish and caramelish. Bitter, toasted and malty finish.

At the brewpub, this was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a light transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising to fill a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds leaving some foamy lacing in a messy way.
The smell had a semi-sweet dry roasty nuts, caramel, toffee and a light cocoa combining into a light sharp resin.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors to combine initially and then as it warms more resin starts to kick into a decent little hop bite. Lingering resin and nuts lead into the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body so it becomes pretty sessionable. Carbonation comes across fairly smooth and allows the resin to be the bitterness over my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good American Brown Ale, hopheads might even like it.

Keg at the brewpub. Pours clear, reddish brown with a beige cream head. The aroma holds light roast, coffee and toasted pine. Medium sweet flavor with nice floral and piney hops, moderate earthy bitterness, cocoa, slight espresso. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Good balance on the finish, slight piney resins, more toast, cocoa and pine. Solid.

On tap at the pump. pours a pretty brown. taste is of bitter and slightly sour. caramel malts and earthy. finishes dry. pretty decent

On draught at the Country Inn in Krumville NY. Clear ruby tinged dark brown body witha fleeting off-white head. Malty toasty aroma. Sweet not overly complex. A bit thin but not bad at all for the style.

Nice slightly hazy deep brown coloured body with a lighter brown head. Aroma of nuts and hops - pretty nice, actually! Medium-bodied; Nice hop flavour supercedes the nuts and the malt. Aftertaste shows hops too. Overall, more of an APA style dark ale, but great to try regardless! I’d prefer if all browns were like this instead of the normal nutty ones! I sampled this on draught at the Albany Pump Station in Albany, New York on 25 June 2006.
