First off, gorgeous bottle. I got a newer logo, without any writing, just a red black hole, and the beautiful metallic red foil. Jet black pour, small mocha head. Quite a it roasted/burnt malts, and soy. Touches of very bitter cocoa, espresso, quite earthy, and a little spice. Mouthfeel is lighter thanh expected with a distinct acidicty from the red wine barrel. A little bit of wood comes through with light acidity and sweetness. The red wine barrel didnt seem to do much except adds some acidity fand sweetness that seemed to cut the mouthfeel and make it less viscous. Long lingering bitter finish, and some more soy and espresso.

Green bottle, 12.7 ounces, savoured on 23 September 2024; eye: black, opaque, no effervescence, no head, no lacing; nose: coffee, alcohol, slight chocolate; mouth: coffee, alcohol, slight chocolate, green pepper, finale in coffee with slight presence of honey, medium-full bodied, below-average carbonation, slightly sweet, slightly raspy texture; in short: correct for such an old beer FRANÇAIS

Bottle, BB March 2014. Black color with almost no head, no pop either. Aroma is roast, chili skin, mild soy sauce, red wine barrel. Taste is chocolate, burnt malts, wood and some barrel sugars as well as tannins. Almost watery mouthfeel, completely flat. Flavourwise it's fine, but the plastic cork probably did no good to it, because it could need a bit of carbonation.

Bottle at home in Hackney. BBE March 2014. Pours back-brown with a quickly fading, bubbly brown head. Flat, perhaps courtesy of the plastic cork. Medium to big sweet flavour, lots of charred malts, dried dark fruits, heavy alcohol, ashy roast, raisins. Full bodied, oily and chewy, no carbonation. Hot finish, some earth, peat, smoke, gooey chocolate, alcohol, ash, dried cherries. Quite good overall.

Keg at Brewdog Camden. Thick black with creamy golden head. Head looks like the top of an espresso. Aroma touch of coffee, bit of jammy fruit, bit of booze. Taste very fruity, bitter coffee and dark chocolate. Creamy end. This was absolutely beautiful. --- Beer merged from original tick of Black Hole Barrel Aged Edition Red Wine on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 9 | Flavor - 10 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 9. From bottle @ 2nd BBF. Almost black and opague. Chocolate and soy sauce overshadow the vinous notes in the aroma. The wine-like barrel notes are stronger in the flavor. Partly hidden soy sauce in the aftertaste. Good, but the balance could be better.

375ml bottle shared with Farees and Jamey. Some really old bottle. Pours a very dark brown with no head. Totally flat. Taste is chocolate, lots of barrel notes, some wood. It is totally flat, but it is still good.

Bottle - Very big Barrel notes with toffee notes. Jet brown with a small head. Big barrel notes but so thin I can’t really enjoy it.
