Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, many say, and if you are a beer geek there is no better way to start the day than with a powerful, complex morning stout.
This is the beer that started it all for Mikkeller. Oatmeal Stout brewed with coffee and seven different kind of malt (Pils, Oat, Smoked, Caramunich, Brown, Pale Chocolate, Chocolate), roasted barley, oat flakes, hops (Centennial, Cascade), American ale yeast and gourmet coffee. Aroma is a combination of malts, caramel, chocolate and coffee. The body is medium with light coffee and chocolate flavors with a creamy texture, average carbonation and a bitter edge on the finish. A beer that goes extremely well with breakfast.

deep dark colour, moderate, creamy dark brown head; aroma of coffee, hints of chocolate, ash, vanilla and smoked woods; taste of roasted coffee, and hints of smoke, maybe ash - much less complex than expected based on the aroma; long lasting roasted bitter aftertaste; dry mouthfeel;good, though a bit less complex stout than I expected

Tap at Roundhouse. Pitch black pour, fine thin tan head. Aroma is not as big as expected - coffee and general roastiness. Taste is roasted coffee and malts - again lighter than expected (and than the Weasel version of this beer). Surprisingly easy drinking for an imperial stout but not much other than coffee flavor. Could imagine actually drinking this alongside breakfast unlike the bigger versions. Preferred the Weasel version quite a bit.

500 ml bottle. Pours a pitch black with a huge, creamy light brown head. Aroma is dominated by roasted malt and coffee. Slightly sweet flavour with roasted malt, oatmeal, dark chocolate and coffee. Full body with a smooth, creamy texture and soft carbonation. With out a doubt the best stout in the world.

Tap at 2. Zahoracky pivny festival. Aroma coffee, roasted, fruity flowery hoppy. Pitch black, stable brown head. Finds a rare balance between hops and roast in flavour. Rich coffee roast, fruity flowery hops. Very tasty.

Thick oaty beer. Taste of roughly roasted malt. Quite a bitter aftertaste, with a bit of coffee. Smooth mouthfeel. Very nice, a real good brew.
