Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, many say, and if you are a beer geek there is no better way to start the day than with a powerful, complex morning stout.
This is the beer that started it all for Mikkeller. Oatmeal Stout brewed with coffee and seven different kind of malt (Pils, Oat, Smoked, Caramunich, Brown, Pale Chocolate, Chocolate), roasted barley, oat flakes, hops (Centennial, Cascade), American ale yeast and gourmet coffee. Aroma is a combination of malts, caramel, chocolate and coffee. The body is medium with light coffee and chocolate flavors with a creamy texture, average carbonation and a bitter edge on the finish. A beer that goes extremely well with breakfast.

Keg @ Bierhaus, Galway [160414]
Pitch black, creamy tan head, good lacing
Aroma - rich deep dark malts, good quality coffee that is well integrated and not over intense, dark chocolate, some savoury malts, slight soy, complex
Taste as aroma, really well integrated coffee, nice coffee roast, very rich yummy dark malts, soft roasted malts, getting some slight zesty hops on side of tongue, no over roasted stuff in here, complex, tastes superb
Palate - Soft carb, medium to full body, not too bitter, not too sweet, so well balanced. Finish as main flavour, getting more of those zest hops in the tail with all the coffee, dark malts and chocolate
Overall - What a find in Galway. Should have had this before. Just a fantastic stout!

Keg @ Euston Tap. Complex roasted malts, with coffee, oats and dark chocolate notes.. well balanced and drinkable. Probably helped being a fresh keg too!

BB 23.03.2018, 0,33L bottle. Pours dark brown with nice brown head. The head stays for a moment. Intense aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, oat, licorine notes. Flavor: oatmeal, coffee, dark chocolate bitterness, slight sourness. Finish is very long, dark chocolate and ash bitter. Overall: it is exactly what label promises - nice oatmeal stout with coffee.

Bottle from Bierkompass.de. Pitch black body, almost no red reflections, with a medium, creamy, fairly stable, brown head. Complex, deep aromas of roast, wood, dark chocolate, coffee, smoke, liquorice. The taste follows this seemlessly, many coffee and smoke notes and all other aromas that were in the nose in a perfect balance, also the hops are slightly present in the background. And what a mouthfeel! Perfect! Extremely creamy, full, just the right amount of carbonation and a complex, long, bitter, smoky, even slightly dry finish, that releases dark aromas and "dazes" your throat with a smokiness even after minutes. Wow, the ratings are true, never had another Stout that came close to this! Especially the palate is amazing!
