Some People Are Immune To Good Advice Maple Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Maple Stout is an intense imperial oatmeal stout brewed with a healthy amount of the best maple syrup money can buy, from our friends BliS in Michigan and then aged in barrels that previously aged that same syrup.

Appearance is black, not really any head apart from a few brown bubbles. Opaque. Aroma is dark malt, chocolate, caramel, treacle toffee, bourbon, fruitcake hints, vanilla, coconut hints, bit of maple, boozy earthy malt. Taste is chocolate, maple, toffee, caramel, biscuity malt, dark chocolate torte, chocolate ice cream, more maple, earthy woody hints, coffee, bourbon, bit of boozy warmth at the end. Very nice, well-balanced.

Pint bottle shared at Battle of Bull, Cheras Malaysia. Poured almost black in colour with a short lived frothy tan head. The aroma is herbal, roasty malt. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter, with a smooth, roasty, plastic, earthy, herbal, floral, liquorice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Really not great at all and not what I was expecting after reading the earlier ratings. Really didn’t get any maple syrup at all. It makes me wonder what life this bottle has lead!

If I was back home I’d be looking to visit a Sugar Shack around now… Evil Twin Some People Are Immune to Good Advice Maple Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout 10.7% Deep inky black with a wispy rusty tan foam. The aroma has sharp bourbon barrel notes up front then maple and rich savory Stout chocolatey notes with hints of vanilla. Very smooth and full bodied with quite a bit of heat. The taste gives bourbon, maple, banana, oak, vanilla, bourbon chocolate bonbons. Very savory, I think it’d be good for aging. Nice. Surprisingly excellent pairing Anko Taiyaki.

Bottled 650ml. -at Goblet Zagreb. Pitch black coloured, small brown head, caramel, maple and alcohol in the nose. Roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, light maple and noticable alcohol with notes of wood and vanilla in the finish. Not so good for rate above 4.0

Bomber at home. Opaque pitch black color, very small dark brown colored head. Aroma is malts, heavy bourbon and maple. Flavor is dominated by maple, bourbon and maltiness underneath as well. Sweetish, marmelade/jam-ish almost. Sticky texture, soft carbonation, full body. Pretty good, though a little on the sweet side for me personally.

Bottle. A- Chocolate, mild whisky, mild maple. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Whisky, chocolate. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- I get the barrel but I really have a hard time with the maple. It's there but you have to think about it to really find how it plays a role in the beer. There is very mild smoke, some sweetness and a bit of woodsy notes that are showing through, but for the most part it just tastes like a big barrel aged stout. Really good but needs more maple.

Draught at St Gambrinus: pours black with beige head. Aroma is vanilla, whisky, chocolate, maple, of course. Taste is nutty, chocolate, vanilla, maple. Not a bad finish generally speaking. Solid. Maple adds a nice touch to the finish.
