Shall one compare thee to a fair beer,
Not even this perfect porter before thou will do thee justice.
Thou art more complex, brave and cunning.
Thou have changed more than a brew will ever.
Thou may be lil’, but thy mind is greater than words can speak and beer will ever taste.

A fizzy tan head that dissipates quickly on an inky black body. Nose features candied fruit, chocolate and a touch of bubble gum. The taste is truly porter like - a range of dark tastes but not as dense and heavy as a stout. A chocolate lead is accompanied by dark berries, biscuit malt, caramel, molasses, slightly burnt butter and some fruity hops. There are hints of booze and cream and that unusual bubble gum element in a well rounded profile. A hint of acidity keeps the finish cleaner than stouts. If the nose on this imperial were not so mild, it would be rating with the very, very best.

Aroma of rrrrroasted malts, coffee, cocoa, molasses, dark fruits, hops. Flavour is quite roasty, sweet malts, dark chocolate, a little alcohol, a little smoke, quite sweet, but well-balanced. Finish has some nice bitterness.

Smell-weak malt, chocolate, coffee, caramel, sweetness. Foam- thin, roast, sweetness, coffee, malt, caramel, chocolate. Head is large, dark brown in color. Appearance-simple can, some abstract face on... hmm... fine get a bonus. Black color, medium carbonation. From - stout glass Taste - malt, coffee, dryness, cocoa, chocolate, roast, sweetness. Alcohol somewhat blended in well, but soon after noticeable. Boozy after-feel. Dry aftertaste, without it, would be nice. At end - disappointing.

0.473 l can as part of the retro series, canned in December 2021, courtesy of fonefan, thanks a lot Jan! Pitch black, almost a hard pour but still only with a very thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, brown head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty aroma of dark chocolate, hazelnut, vanilla, coffee and a touch of licorice. Very sweet, malty, gently roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, hazelnut, vanilla and licorice, followed by a medium long, quite roasty-bitter finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Classy stuff, very well-brewed, a bit too heavy for a pint maybe.

Well stored bottle. Dark brown, almost black body under a stable, small brown head. Aroma has dark, smooth roasted malt, dark chocolate, dry fruit, mild wood and hint of whisky. Taste is sweet, super smooth roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel, dry fruit, mild wood and warming alcohol. Full bodied with very long lasting aftertaste. Really nice and smooth with lots of taste in a balancing way, even the alcohol feels just nice and warming.

Poured from 473mL can (canned 11/13/2021). Black with small tan head. Lots of dark dried fruit, rich sweet chocolate. Quite nice.
