Brewed with a “heelch” (that means “a lot” in Boontling”) of Columbus, Chinook, and Cascade hops, our double IPA has a palate pleasing bitterness that is artfully balanced with a full-bodied malt foundation. With a deep color of polished brass and a nose that sings of pink grapefruit and redwood needles, the rich biscuit-like malt flavors are intertwined with hints of vanilla, mangos, and peppercorns leading to a deep, warming finish.

Sample at Winking Lizard during the "Sierra Nevada Barrel Aged Night" on 12/09/2016. The beer is a cloudy orange-gold color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Citrus, hops and malt in the nose. Medium-bodied with flavors of piney hops, fruit and caramel malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hop aftertaste. Above average overall.

A hazed golden DIPA with a thick frothy lacing off white head. In aroma, nice biscuit malt with resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, nice and classic. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity biscuit malt with light vinous notes, resinous floral hops, treacle, light butterscotch, alcohol warmth, light citrus, very nice.

Unclear, orange-golden colored, medium- off white frothy head. Aroma is of caramel, carob, orange hard candy, some light fruit and citrus, sure signs of the Atlantic. Taste is medium+ sweet malt, caramel, carob and orange hard candy, light+ fruity and citrus hops, medium+ bitterness. Medium+ bodied, soft carbonation, sticky. Another IPA lost at sea... (on tap, Craft Room, Zagreb)

On tap at Craft Room. Misty dark orange/something body, small white head. Dry orange notes and biscuity maltiness in the aroma, panettone, and something else, strange. Definitely not the way even an APA, let alone a Double IPA should smell. This was gone ages ago. The taste verifies that. Dry caramel taste with vague herbal hoppy notes and a papery finish similar to the much better preserved Hop Ottin’. I hope to rerate it from a fresh bottle, as with Hop Ottin’ really, but this in particular, as this was a major disappointment. It’s really a shame that hop-driven beers this old are being sold and shipped around - and through no fault of the brewery or maybe even the pub.

From a 355ml bottle on 20//2016. Pours a murky golden with a medium head. Has a lovely aroma which is equally malty and hoppy, with lots of citrus and some floral notes. Taste wise, this is big from the get go, with sweet caramel and biscuity malt, lots of sweet citrus and stone fruit (orange, apricot). Finishes with a big, satisfying hops, with pine, resin and grapefruit all in the mix. The texture is slick, with average carbonation. Exhibits sensational malt/hop, sweet/bitter balance. Complex, chewy and delicious. An absolutely top flight DIPA. I can’t believe the comparatively modest score it has on here. Outstanding.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/3/2015. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Awesome appearance. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon/orange peel, light pepper, pine, honey, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness that lightly increases through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky/resinous, and creamy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very good DIPA. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
