One of our favourite styles - American Brown Ale! Medium bodied with a solid backbone of malt richness. This is balanced with toasty and nutty textures from the roast chestnuts and finished with lashings of hops.

Tried in bottle from flavourly.com. Chestnut brown with a tan head. Nutty malt aroma with a light malty sweet taste and a touch of fruit. Medium body.

Bottle at home. Pours a clear deep reddish brown with a khaki head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, dried fruit, oak, leather and some coffee. Pretty sweet. The flavour is more bitter with leather, wood, fudge and grassy hops. Has a slick mouth feel, medium body and a medium to heavy bitterness. Has a sweet aroma but a little bitter and unbalanced flavour. Decent enough.

Mahognibrun klar med to fongre høyt lys brunt skum. Lukter karamell, sjokolade mot toffee og noe nøtter. Middels fylde. Smaker noe brent karamell, kaffe og noe kakaopulver. Kort.

330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Harstad. A good looking beer with a creamy off-white head covering a bright, copper coloured body. Fair lacing. Pleasant aroma of roasted mocha chocolate and caramel. The taste profile is made up by caramel, wood, nuts and chocolate. Roasted bittersweet tail. Medium bodied. Quite unusual brown ale, and pretty nice. (Tromsø 17.06.2016).

Flaske 330ml fra Vinmonopolet Harstad. Drukket på Bergstua 23 Mai 16. Mørk amber. Høyt luftig skum med litt farge. Aroma av lett brent malt/knekk. Smaken mer knekk. Blir karamell etter hvert. Søtt helhetsinntrykk.

330 ml bottle. Clear brown body with a big, dense, slightly pale beige head. Aroma has caramel malt, chocolate and some ripe fruit. Flavoris sweet malt, caramel – almost a bit like crème brûlée, dry fruit, toast and mild but slightly harsh kind of bitterness. Medium body and average aftertaste that ends a bit unpleasant, it might be the chestnuts, but my notes say cooked vegetables. Drinkable but not really great.

Cask at The BowBar, Edinburgh, Friday 18th March 2016 in the company of Dad and Barry. Pours dark chestnut in colour with a sticky filmy white head. A little caramel, slight bitterness but quite soft. Ok but no great shakes. A5 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.0
