Brewed in the style of Dortmund, Germany, this golden lager has a delicate caramel malt character, balanced by a light body and mild German noble hops, creating a crisp, refreshing finish.

Lager look with some scum on top for a haed. Has a rather cheap lager roughness about it initially on the taste buds. Comparable to some cheap ice or high gravity beers. A little rude on the finish. Can get the same experience from many other cheaper higher alky pale lagers.

Bottle. Frothy white head that disappears. Medium golden body, fairly clear. The aroma is grainy with notes of toasted bread. Hints of herbs and grass. Faint hint of vegetables. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter with an aftertaste of husky grain. Medium body with a water texture. Plenty of carbonation. The grainy taste and hint of vegetables make me think this is a souped up MGD. The aftertaste is very similar.

A nice golden beer with a thin white head. In aroma, a light fruity aroma with light caramel malt. In mouth, a sweetish malt with light fuesel alcohol, a bit oily. Medium bodied, a bit cloying. On tap at Jerry’s, Chicago, May 16 2009.

This beer pours a mostly clear orange color wth a thin white head that fizzes away quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma is fruity with notes of sugary bread and hops. Light body with flavors of grainy malt, citrus fruit and mild hops. The finish is thin, fruity and short. Just average overall, and my last rated beer for 2008 turned out to be not so exciting.

Clear, honey-colored beer, with a short-lived head - decent lace - smells of innocuous lagered character, a bit of honey, some grassy hops, a little bready quality - fairly creamy mouthfeel, but it thins out really fast - very mild flavor - some herbal hops, mild cane sugar sweetness, some lemony notes - gets bitter and a little dry in the finish - fairly uninteresting - normally I find TB beers under-rated - not the case with this one.

2006 bottle, best before August or some time out there. Not much head, with that slightly more glassy-than-clear appearance of a coppery-amber. Without talking about the aroma, I’m going to talk about a multi-part series with Two Brothers. Their beers are not complex, not mind-blowingly well-textured. But what they do have is a drinkability, thanks to clean, flawless brewing, that allows their simple malt profile to shine. Yes, this is not the best Dort I’ve ever had, but the hops are strong, but not overbearing, whlie the yeast is at least noticeable, more than most can say in this style.

Bottle. Dated best by 11/22/05. Certainly pours nice. A helles kind of gold with a bit of depth in the glass. Very thin ring of foam left over. Nice blustery German beer smell. Taste is full of those light lager malts with a brush of Vienna, and a clean German hop profile. Not exceptional, but a fine summer brew that sticks to style.

Pour is a very cloudy yellow for a lager. Head is frigging huge! Aroma is a nice malt and hop mix. Flaovir is a citrusy and hop combo. The finish is nice and refreshing. A nice twist to the stayle and quite tasty.

This was on sale at Whole Foods for a whopping $3.99 per six pack. Didn’t expect a whole lot and was pleasantly surprised. (That said, I wouldn’t pay $7 or $8 for it.) Pours a light clouded yellow/amber color that changes a lot depending on lighting. Nice foamy head that doesn’t go away right away. Aroma is weak, hops and grass. First sip is malty with apple undertones that give way to hops that could be a bit stronger. All in all, well worth a try at $4...
