Draught @ Albion. Inky black with very small frothy tan head, coffee aroma, low carbonation, bitter mocha taste, thin body, longish bitter roasted malt finish. It feels more like a porter than stout.

Bottle, old notes from the ’15 Boise imperial stout tasting. Small pour, very dark brown and near black in color, topped with a modest tan head. Roasty and toasted malt aroma, some cocoa, and a little anise. I get a little coffee in the taste, along with the heavy roast… there is something sweet in there too. Thick and viscous mouthfeel. Good.

Some guy at the sampler: pours black with a beige head. Aroma is coffee and roasted malts. Taste is somewhat sweet and roasty. Alcohol is well covered. Pretty smooth.

4oz pour at the brewpub pours a murky brown with some creamy, off white head. Nose has a fair amount of licorice, some malt, some molasses, toast, some roast, a little chocolate covered coffee bean. Flavor some some coffee, a little toasted almond, some nougat, molasses, some Hershey’s syrup. Thick finish, fairly smooth though.
