Our IPA is created from a base of Pale and Crystal malts and is aggressively hopped throughout the brewing process with a final hop addition in the conditioning vessel. A beautiful flowery hop aroma will greet you as you dive into this hop lover’s dream. A middle caramel malt presence balances high hop bitterness with hop flavor end to end... learn to love hops! (Editor’s Note: originally brewed by Humboldt Brewing Company under the name "Humboldt IPA Nectar" until their acquisition by Firestone Walker.)

On tap at the Yard House, Houston. As Yard House IPA. A small, dense off-white head sits on top of a hazy, golden-orange body. The aroma is mostly on the piney side, with orange peel, some apricots and a little malty touch. Some bitterness in the mouth, should have more I think. Orange peel, pine cones and a little malty sweetness. Full body, nice co2 level. A bit short in the end, but there’s at least a nice piney flavor and some orange. Overall, sure a nice one, easy drinkable and next to quenching. 140514

Draft - Floral grapefruit hops and caramel sweetness. Clear copper with a good rich beige head. Grapefruit with upfront bitterness followed by the sweet caramel. Decent.

Nice but fairly typical West Coast IPA. Nice hop aroma, but perhaps a bad bottle that had sat too long on the shelf...seemed like the caramel malt had gone off a little. Nice but forgettable.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/4/2013. Pours hazy deep orange amber color with a 1-2 finger dense cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, orange zest, tangerine, lemon zest, pine, floral, grass, caramel, bread, toast, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity of citrus/pine hops and moderate malt balance; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, orange zest, lemon zest, floral, grass, pine, caramel, toast, bread, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, orange/lemon zest, floral, grass, pine, caramel, toast, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity of citrus hop flavors and moderate malt balance; with a moderately crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall, despite the age of the bottle, this was a very nice IPA. Nice complexity of hop flavors with moderate malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

First time I’ve seen these beers around here. Open bottle lets the dull ipa perfume abound. Strong bitter oily mouth coating soapy stuff. Its 7% and you know it. Weird how I never get used to the taste of good ipa. Pine tar sap. Appears rather viscous. wew. Less 0.1 since it lingers so terribly long in the back of my mouth.

12 oz. bottle purchased @ Top Shelf Brews, Hampton, NH. Clear caramel color with lively carbonation. The nose is hops covered in caramel hops. The taste is real pleasant. Taste is sweeter malts at first transitioning to a good crisp pine and citrus hoppiness. The hops lingering for just a moderate amount of time after the sip. Lively carbonation dances over the tongue. Slightly dry texture. I’m sure this would score slightly better on draft sample. A real nice IPA.
