Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice thinnish, two centimetre all off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, toffee, earth, grain and a bit of pitted fruits. Medium-bodied; Strong malt flavour with a lot of caramelised sugars, some toffee and fruits and a big dose of metal noticeable. Aftertaste shows some grain and a bit of toasted malt, a lot of caramel and toffee and a heavy flavour of light coffee and tea. Overall, a nice and rich beer with a pronounced roasty flavour, a lot of sweetness from caramelised sugars and a bit of bitterness and deep flavours at the end. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased yesterday from Whole Foods in New York (Bowery), New York on 20-January-2017 for US$2,99 sampled at my hotel here in New York on 21-January-2017.

Draught @ Albion. Clear copper red with small creamy beige head, very faint caramel aroma, high carbonation, spicy caramelized malt taste, thin body, long bitterish finish. Decent, not great.

The Diamond, Brooklyn tap: pours light browb with a beige head. Aroma is pine, caramel, and general maltiness. Taste is malty with some hop bit in the finish. At first it seemed kind of weak but it grew on me later. Good.

Sample at Rattle N Hum. Reddish-brown color with a medium light beige head that recedes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, toffee and malt. Medium body with flavors of sweet malt, caramel and ripe fruit. The finish is very sweet with a lingering malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Mason jar fill at the Beer Table Pantry, Grand Central, drank on the 1.36pm train from NYP to Trenton, 26/11/13. Dark mahogony brown with a good sized tan covering. Nose is burnt raisens, dark toffee fudge, fruit loaf mix, dark caramelised sugars, light cocoa, stewed dark fruits, sweet waftings. Taste comprises Xmas cake, root liqourice, pitted dark fruit, dates, raisens, muscavado sugar. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light booze coating in a sweet and fruity closure. Decent enough affair.

Growler from a keg at Beer Table to go - NYC. Pours clear russet with a frothy, tan head. Bready malts on the nose with hints of toffee and fruit cake. Medium sweet flavor with dominant bready malt character, doughy brown bread, candied fruits, plum, fig. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, more bready malts, hints of nutmeg and general winters spices. Tasty and easy drinking stuff.
