It poured a beautiful dark brown leaving a spectacular spider-web spotty foamy lacing gracing the sides of the pint glass. A semi half-inch white head appeared and lasted for about a half minute before dieing into the body. The smell had the chocolate up front, almost somewhat of a chocolate cake, there’s a slight bready/cakey smell in there. The taste had the chocolate and a bit of of a smokey coffee taste backing that up. The palate was about a medium to almost heavy with nothing harsh on the tongue. Overall, I like this one. I would come back to this, very good.

Bottle shared by Dutchdrebus. Opaque pitch black, small light brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Smell and taste malts, roastyness and some sweetness. Slightly a hint of coffee. Soft carbonation, low to medium body. Expected a bit more of this but it’s still a nice beer.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Oak Tree, 12/21/12
Aroma: The nose has some caramel malts, chocolate, a milky sweetness, and some toffee notes
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color with a small light-brown colored head and some mild lace
Flavor: The taste is definitely on the sweet-side, though not cloyingly so, and it has a mildly bitter finish
Palate: The body is medium, with a smooth, clean feel, a soft-to-average carbonation, and a creamy finish
Overall Impression: Overall, I think this one turned out very nicely. The old add about milk stouts in the description is hilarious, come get some nursing mothers and invalids! Anyway, as for the beer itself, they got some nice milky sweetness and creaminess out of the lactose. The 7.5% is extremely well hidden. All-in-all, this one works pretty well.

Smells very smoky. Lots of dark, roasted malt as well. Pours pretty black. Aroma of nuts, coffee and a little lactose in there. Some booze as well. Medium carbonation. Taste is sweet and bitter - a good balance between them both. Really enjoyed this one. Bottle from Village Beer Merchant.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thin, half a centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, raisins, pit fruits, caramel, toffee and a hint of milk. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong lactic flavours at first with oatmeal, a bit of nuts and a ton of roasted malt and bitter cofffee notes with a little caramelised sugar sweetness on the back end. Aftertaste is a bit complex with the good sour lactic notes at first followed by a pleasant sweetness and a good deep bitter flavour with not much alcohol notes and a solid body. Overall, a nice beer - definitely one to sample as the days get shorter and the nights get chillier. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 22-April-2012 for US$1.65 sampled at home in Washington on 01-December-2012.

tap at Dash In - Pours black with a small light tan head. The aroma is of roast malt and chocolate. It has a sweet malt flavor with roast character and lactose notes. Full bodied, this brew has some bitterness coming through in the finish. Very good brew.
