Escaping from winter’s darkness, this hazy golden, unfiltered Kölsch style creates a fresh start. Our take on the classic hybrid style from Cologne, Germany, combines the subtle fruit notes of an ale with the smooth crispness of a lager for a bright, refreshing brew to help escape those lingering cold days.

This review was imported from my RateBeer ratings.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy, lemon-gold, with a white, tight head that lasts a while. Smells slightly sweet (like brown sugar) with hints of lemon and banana. Taste is medium sweet but I can’t really identify any particular flavors. It has a medium body with a slightly creamy texture. Carbonation seems a bit high, and the finish is long and sweet..

Overall, I would consider this a "people-pleaser" beer. It’s a bit sweet and doesn’t have any off-putting flavors. However, it also means there’s nothing unique about this beer and therefore has no identity. Basically, this is the kind of beer that you have at your backyard barbecue because you know almost everyone will like it. But it’s not necessarily one that you’d tout to your beer friends.

Purchased in Vermont in their Cabin selection 12-pack. Pours a slight hazed golden-yellow colour with a frothy white head, good retention and creamy lacing. Citrus aromas with light malt. Caramel malt flavours with some decent hops in the finish. The grain cereal lingers. A nice Limited Release, but not something I would go would go out of my way to grab.

Bottle from Cabin Pack mixed 12 pack Box Stamped Enjoy by May, 2016 Actual bottle stamped 3475 so bottled on 12/1315 Into a Reisdorf stange. A: Pours a turbulent finger high beige head. Slightly murky dark gold color with busy carbonation. S: Dry scent of crisp white crackers and a touch of dry white wine grape. T: Dry as expected with a starchy cracker bite. Grassy hop note is Echoes the white wine from the nose. Dry crisp, but strong tasting. M: Light and very effervescent. Very easy-drinking. O: Overall pretty good example of a Kolsch if not exceptional. Two in a pack is OK but I would not be interested in purchasing six packs.

Bottle en route to JFK. Pours clear gold with a foamy white head. The nose has some biscuity pale malts, slight jammy citrus, grain. Light-medium sweet flavor with pleasant dry biscuits, corn bread, hay, citrus rind. Light bodied with average carbonation. OK balance to finish, some pale bread, more biscuits, lemon peel, dough, faint white grape, cereal. Pretty tasty overall.
