As crisp as the first snowfall of the year, this unfiltered white ale is blended with holiday spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, & orange peel. The familiar citrus and wheat characters of the ale are complimented by the warmth of the spices for a festive brew that’s perfect for the season.

Bottle. Reminds me of a summer shandy with cinnamon and nutmeg. Cloudy, decent head that disappears quickly.

Pours a hazy golden with a thick white head. Aroma of bananas and malt. Taste is dominated by coriander and bananas, slight spice notes. Palate includes mild spice notes, dominated by a coriander note on the nose. Good beer.

Can taster pour at Total Wine & More, Danvers. Appearance is lightly hazy light brown with nice sparkle. Aroma is cracker malts with mild holiday spice. Taste is as aroma. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with average carbonation. Overall, drinkable. Not bad by any means but definitely average with no reason to seek out.

12 oz bottle, pours clear copper amber. Medium body with not a lot of aroma for a so called Christmas ale. Coriander dominates the taste, and the beer finishes mild malty.

Nice ever so slightly hazy copper coloured body with a thinnish, one to two centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of fresh coriander seed, light ginger, a touch of curacao and a dose of light sugars with some fresh yeast and mellow wheat. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive spice flavour at first with a light ginger and coriander seed note at first with some mellow malts, a touch of full oranges and then curacao notes along with a smooth, but dry malt/wheat punch near the end. Aftertaste is dry but spicey with a nice sweetness, but the complex yeast notes are enjoyable along with just a touch of honey. Overall, a nicely structured and incredibly spicey beer with a great profile and moderate complexity, especially for the style, all while remaining easy-drinking and mellow. Nice to sample, especially at this great time of year! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Giant Food in Arlington, Virginia (Columbia Pike) (22-November-2017 for US$1,99) sampled at home in Washington on 20-February-2018.

On tap. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a small, creamy, long lasting, white head that laces. Spicy aroma of wheat malt, orange zest, cinnamon and nutmeg. Sweet, spicy flavour of wheat malt, yeast, orange zest, lemon, ginger, coriander, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove with a crisp, dry finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. An odd Witbier. A little off-style.

12oz bottle from Wegmans, West Seneca. A slightly hazy amber pour with no head and the feintest trace of carbonation; some weak spice on the aroma; fizzy in the mouth with a sweet orangey malt body and some warming spices; then a sweet orange syrup finish. This bears no resemblence to a proper Witbier, and is the poorest Sam Adams brew I've ever come across.

Pretty much what you expect: the Samuel Adams Winter spice blend (same as what we get in Winter Lager and Old Fezziwig Ale), only this time applied to a witbier. Not bad, just straightforward, a combination of clove, banana, and vanilla white ale notes with lots of cinnamon and nutmeg. Yeast and citrus pop up on the back end, with an unsatisfying sweetness that grows stronger and more annoying as the pint warms. Pours a hazy gold with a slight white head and lackluster lacing. Good smooth mouthfeel, but it doesn't help the over-spicing and the ever-increasing sugariness. Pass.
