Sweet malty/caramel aroma. Some light nuttiness, and a touch of hops in the flavor. Straight forward, and pretty simple. Not for the huge beer geek, but i can see a macro drinker enjoying it.

Keg at Clocktower Elgin St, Ottawa. Nut brown with mid sized head. Caramelly nose with some hazelnuts. Sweet with medium body and clean mouthfeel. Butter and cocoa powder, caramel and light spice. Low bitterness.

Very pedestrian brown ale here. Pours a syrupy looking brown aroma of barley, nothing else. Faint nip of hops in finish but this tastes more like an RAN than a brown. Average carbonation. Tap at brewpub.

(5 avril 2013)

Originally rated January 2006. Sampled from the cask. Poured a deep brown colour, but still see-through, with red highlights. The foamy head was tanned and the lace left topped the brew for a while, and left webbings. Grapefruit aromas with hints of chocolat. Taste started off real fruity with grapefruit again, then went to a real smooth middle to then go to some small bitter finish. Roasted malts showed up in the aftertaste. Creamy slick mouthfeel. Not sure if this one was supposed to taste this fruity, but it sure was delicious.

Aroma is soft fruity barley. Has an okay dark copper body, but again minimal head which seems to be appreciated by the Anglo-Canadien brewpub establishments. Flavour is a weak mix of barley and sugar. Wet finish. It’s not the best for its style, and I dare say that they are thinning it down and not aging it correctly in the aim to get more out the door. Hit the floor, you could do more to score. Eh.

Tan colored spongy head, brown clear appearance, bitter coffee beans taste, mild carbonation, long finish. Not bad but the coffee taste is too dominant.

Some caramel and hops on the nose, with a tinge of acidity (Dum)....very thin beer, with some lactic acid...this beer is off...too little malts for the hops...a BIG disapointment
