Originally designed to be a hoppier version of our flagship Saison, the accidental (but fortuitous) addition of two extra bags of Munich malt balanced out the hop bitterness leaving us this very unique beer. Tropic King bursts with fruity tropical characteristics from the use of New Zealand hop varietals. This beer is a flavor extravaganza that has developed a loyal following. Notes of passion fruit, mango, pepper, and ginger.
Pairs well with hula hooping.

Bottle 75 cl. Comes as: "Funkwerks Tropic King Imperial Saison". Pours a clear golden with a creamy and lacing white head. sweet malty and very fruity aroma with only a whiff of yeast. A tad of funkiness in the nose. The body is surprisingly sweet, malty - almost like an Imperial Pils. Then a solid yeastiness comes creeping - combined with the exotic hops making for a rather solid Imperial saison - although the funk is close to absent. 181214

Bottle. A- Tropical fruits, hoppy, yeasty. A- Orange color, cloudy liquid, white frothy head. T- Slightly bitter, bready, tropical fruits, mango, peach, caramel, subtle funk, spices. P- Medium body, average texture, medium high carbonation, smooth finish. O- A lot different than I expected. There is bitterness that I didn’t expect but wasn’t necessarily bad. I was expecting this to be a fruitier version of their flagship Saison. I was quite wrong. This resembles that beer in no ways. I was hoping for a Saison that was full of juicy fruit notes, but this was more like a White IPA. Not bad, but not really what I wanted.

Draft. Light golden body with a frothy, white head. Light aroma of pineapple, mango, toasted grain, floral hops, basement. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture turning sticky, moderate carbonation. Some peppery alcohol in the finish helps erase some of the sweetness. Fruity flavors with a bit of floral and spice from the hops.

Tropic King Very nice clarity, golden 3 finger super meringue head thatt fades slowly with a sticky head. Nose is nice. Fruity, lots of peach and papaya and mango with a touch of brett funk, ropey leather.Mmm, this is pretty nice. Obviously, it’s very fruity, almost too much like a fruit salad bar. Lots of kiwi, pineapple, mango. It’s rustic, funky, bitter with a slight medicinal finish.
