This gueuze is obtained by mixing ('versnijden'), young and old lambiek. It achieves a beautiful balance between sweet, sour and slightly bitter, which makes it an ideal thirst quencher on hot and humid summer days. It is only mildly sour with touches of citrus, strawberry and caramelised grains.

Ambar anaranjada. De espuma blanquecina. Aroma poco marcado. En boca es carbonatada en exceso, de tono ligeramente lacteo, bastante azucarado, y sabor malteado.

250ml bottle. Minimally milky, orange, amber colour with average, frothy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white head. Sweet-ish malty, slightly fruity and minimally woody aroma, a touch of peach, grapes, whiffs of oak and grape sugar. Taste is mellow malty, fruity, minimally tart-ish, hints of grapes, grape juice, a minimally woody touch. Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, smooth and soft palate, medium, soft carbonation. Mellow, refreshing, not overly complex - nice.

Drank on 13th October 2021 Mommsen-Eck Charlottenburg - Haus der 100 Biere. 0.25 litre bottle (BB September 2022). I chose this because I had tried all the other beers they had in stock and every new beer to me wasn't available; annoying! Anyway it was orange in colour and slightly hazy, wisp for a head. Sour puss of a beer with a hint of sweetness in the finish.

Zoetstoffen horen niet thuis in een Gueuze, wat mij betreft.

3 October 2020. At Bluesette, Ghent. Cheers to Maarten, Eduard, Nicolas! Hazy golden, stable, small, frothy, white head. Aroma of apple juice, pear, kiwi pulp, wet wood, faint vinegar. Taste has sweet apple, pear & sour kiwi, biscuity malts with a bready feel. Malty finish, bit tart, some grassy hops, mostly biscuit & bread. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Quite artifical so pretty bad.
