A dessert in a glass. This beer is brewed using unfermentable lactose sugar, vanilla beans and plenty of roasted malts to provide a sweet, smooth caramel drinking experience. No blowtorch was used in the making of this beer.

Can from Waitrose, West Byfleet. Sweet creamy vanilla caramel aroma with underlying coffee. Darkest brown. Creamy beige head thins out on top. Sweet but reigned in by a bitter core and sour periphery. Boozy coffee with a vanilla streak. Medium bodied. Creamy if light. Average carbonation. Slightly astringent and somewhat abrupt finish. Nice. Smooth. But perhaps not overly memorable.

440ml can - Pours a clear dark brown colour with a small light tan head that settled. Aroma is sweet roasted malts, vanilla custard and some chocolate. A sweet taste, rich vanilla custard, sweet caramel, malt and some chocolate flavours with a dry sweet finish. A bit artificial and a bit too much lactose.

[44cl bottle from Waitrose, Bracknell.] A beautiful glossy mahogany coloured pour with a reddish gleam and a tight beige head; aroma of burnt caramel; sweet in the mouth with a smooth body and deeply roasted malts adding bitterness and a touch of smoke; then a sweet finish with traces of vanilla custard. Does just what it says on the tin.

Rich but light and very dessert-like. Not a big beer. Drinkable though, very. Old joint & stock birmingham

12/5/2018. Can at the Ipswich bottle share, from Two Brews, Colchester. Pours dark mahogany brown with a beige head. Aroma of caramel, sweet malt, milk chocolate, crème brûlée and berries. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, above average carbonation. Bit too fizzy.

330ml can into glass. Mahogany red/dark brown with light brown head. Smells like custard and brown sugar. Tastes like a very sweet stout with a custard aftertaste. A bit too sickly sweet for me.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a low head. Aroma is caramel, sugar, strong candy, vanilla, a bit artificial, but creme brulee indeed. Body is heavy and strong, sweet, quite intense, again caramel and vanilla. Lively carbonation, quite intense. Surprising for a 5.9% ABV beer. Good!
