On tap keg at The Royal Navy Volunteer, Bristol, Friday 2nd January 2015 Murky amber with sticky, wispy head. Very thick in mouth, a touch syrupy but smooth and very easy drinking. Tastes a lot easier drinking than a 10.5% beer should do, enjoying this. A7 A3 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Keg at the Euston Tap, 15/12/14. Clear golden amber with a decent off white covering. Nose is barley sugar, grain, caramel, malt, light hop presence. Taste comprises candied sugars, dark fruits, woody, caramel malt, rich orange peel, spice. Medium + body, fine carbonationa, lightly warming alcohol in the close. Decent enough barley wine, sweetness tempered with bitterness stops it from being cloying but not a huge amount of depth.

Cask at CBC Holborn. It pours oily amber-brown with a bubbly beige head. The nose is rich, woody, pine, leather, spice, raisin, sultana and fruit cake. The taste is initially sweet and boozy, then bitter pine, pepper, raisin, sultana, oily, resin, leather, stewed fruits and spice with bitter finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Way better than I had expected on cask. Bitterness saves this from being overly sweet and boozy, pretty decent.

Keg at the Euston Tap. Copper with very little visible carbonation. Not much head but lots of lacing. Grainy caramel aroma replete with the promise of piney hop. This is brought to fruition in the taste which starts sweet but turns to a pronounced bitter in the finish. Sour/bitter aftertaste. Excellent.
