Pours cloudy brown-amber with a tight tan head. Aroma is bread, malt. Flavour is caramel, bread, a hint of citrus and mild spice. Almost a rye-ness to it..... Pretty good, even though the bottle was a little old.

Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 10/23/12
Aroma: The nose is fairly malty, with some bread/toast, toffee notes, and some underlying hints of fruit.
Appearance: Pours a hazed caramel-orange color with a small off-white head and occasional lace spots.
Flavor: Though it tastes similar to the nose in bready/malty flavors department, and it is fairly sweet, the fruitiness comes out quite a bit more then the nose suggested Finishes sweet with just a hint of fruity tang.
Palate: The body is fairly light, it feels rather smooth, clean, and quite drinkable, with a slightly sticky finish.
Overall Impression: This one did not really taste like an Oktoberfest to me, but oddly, it smelled quite a bit like an Oktoberfest. I liked it though, I wasn’t expecting a ton considering the style, but somehow this one works. Out of the 4 I’ve tried, this brewery is 4 for 4 on making beers I enjoyed drinking.

Nice crisp copper and bronze coloured body with a thinnish tan head and a few bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Aroma of toasted malt, earth, caramel, yeast, a touch of unfinished wort, a good amount of brown sugar and finally - a very light amount of spices. Medium-bodied; Assertive toasted malt flavour with a caramel and light toffee note, a minor grass and herbal note and the finish shows some earth flavours. Aftertaste shows mostly mild characteristics with more leading toward the toffee and caramel and only a little focusing on the malt - hardly any hops noticeable at all. Overall, an okay marzen, but given the brewery, I was expecting much better. This was average at best, but probably not even in the critical mass of marzens. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 09-October-2011 for US$1.49 sampled at home in Washington on 18-October-2011.

12oz bottle. Poured a clear copper color with a medium-to-small sized white head. Aroma is biscuit malts, crisp, clean notes, caramel malty sweetness. A pretty decent brew, especially (in my opinion) of an Oktoberfest.

16oz draft from Buffalo Wild Wings. Pours a clear, dark amber with about 2 finger of off-white head. Aroma of roasted bread. Taste is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Taste of nice roasty malt. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and an average length finish. Overall, very good. Something I will definitely drink again in the future.

Whole Foods, P St, DC sixer ($9): Pours a nice amberish colour with a mostly whitish head. Aroma is mostly lightly roasted malts and a tad of fruitiness and the like. Sugary, toast, a very little bit of hops. Slightly roasty aftertaste. A simple, but very sessionable and tasty Oktoberfest.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear amber color with a medium frothy white head. Decent head retention and nice lacing. Aroma of toasted malts, caramel and some fruity notes. The taste is toasted malts, stone fruits, pineapple and caramel. Medium bodied. A little oddly fruity for a marzen, but I’m digging it.
