Notes from June 2011 Went to Rattle n Hum to get some much needed air conditioning, stayed for the beer! Pat finally has more then 2-3 beers on his happy hour list, & this was one of them. Six bucks got me a frothy/lumpy, off-white 14oz pour. Filtered, darker then average amber body, but I've only tried a handful of takes on the style in my life, so it's difficult to judge. Smells were subtle but obvious. Rindy & herbal, toasty, with a squirt of brine. Taste was less demanding that I would of expected, but extremely clean or just impossibly hidden. Coriander was mild to moderate, but quite orange. Middle was all dry, toasty, semi-sweet malt. Great texture. Low to moderate metallic hops, that I'm probably just mis-identifying. Just a twinge of salt on the back end played off the malt perfectly & made it into such a nice session beer. Bit lacking in brine flavor for a Gose, but that moves it past merely being a novelty beer in my opinion & into something truly sessionable. Actually felt a bit harder then 3.8%, but I've been a bit of a puss lately. I had my doubts about these two guys breaking off & attempting something like this, but it worked. I admire their restraint, especially considering their background brewing at Sixpoint. :)

Drought. Hazy light orange with creamy off-white head, very little citrus aroma, high carbonation, slightly sour taste, thick body, abrupt finish. Light and fresh drink.

Location: Sampled at Tap NY, 4/27/13

Aroma: The aroma is a bit fruity, with some malty notes, a bit of hop, and some spice
Appearance: It pours a clear golden-orange color with a small white head
Flavor: The taste is much the same, a little sweet, a little bit spicy, and a little bit tart too
Palate: The body is fairly light, but not overly watery considering that it clocks in under 4%
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty solid beer. It isn't anything amazing, but it's nice to try a solidly made low alcohol beer every now and again (especially in the midst of a festival). Good stuff.

Shaker pint draft at The Good Life in Massapequa Park, New York. The pour is a hazed orange golden, with a 1/2 inch fizzy white head. The aroma is light citrus, tart sourness, a touch of sweet malt, and not too much else. The taste has a nice light citrus tart zippiness to it, gentle salt (hey, I just got the name) along with a light toast malt underneath. There is a touch of straw and a slight dirty mineral to the finish. The palate is light bodied, with a bright soft fine carbonation, and a nice unfiltered mouth feel. Crisp easy drinking beer, nice body considering the low ABV.

Bar Great Harry, NY tap ($6): Pours an orange colour with a small head. Aroma is lemon and wheat. Taste is mostly lemony, with a heavy mineral feel throughout. ’Tis rather salty, but not in a bad way. Really light, but full-flavoured. Does have a nice aftertaste.

Sampled from the tap at Rattle N Hum. Poured a clear amber with a thin thin white head that dissipated completely. Aroma had notes of coriander, light fruit and a hint of flora. Flavor was similar with a good amount of coriander and a decent bite from the added salt. A bit salty for me.
