Drought. Dark brown-black with small spongy tan head, berry-like aroma, high carbonation, hoppy taste mixed with coffee, abrupt finish, mocha aftertaste. Quite a good brew.

Keg at the Ginger Man, NYC, 23/11/13. Hazed mahogony brown with a moderate light beige covering. Nose is tropical fruit, cantaloupe melon, light pine, hoppy notes, jammy fruit, light roast. Taste comprises caramel, hops, earthy cocoa, jammy tropicana, dark berry fruit, light roast. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation - a little overcooked for my liking, grassy hop bitterness in a dry closure. Ok CDA.

Keg at the Pony Bar UES - NYC. Pours dark, clear brown with a frothy tan head. Classic black IPA nose, all burnt pine, sturdy roasted malts, some grapefruit and dark berries. Medium sweet flavor, well balanced, with some bitter earth and harred pine, dry minerals and ash, baking cocoa, ripe grapefruit, plum. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Mildly resinous on the finish with more burnt pine, chocolate, earth, ripening citrus fruits. Solid. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Black-colored, almost completely opaque, with a stable big beige to light brown head. Roasty aroma with dark chocolate, cocoa and some fruity and piney hops. Roasty bittersweet flavor with dark chocolate, coffee notes, piney and citric hops and a finish of bitter hops. Medium-bodied. Nice.

Bottle from Half Time. Pours very dark brown with a 3 finger creamy beige/tan head. Aroma is a bit dank with some underlying chocolate. Med minus body. It seems a little towards sour. There’s chocolate, maybe even a hint of vanilla. Drinkable, but not all that pleasant. Does finish on the dry side.
