Draft. An amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, fruit, and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, fruit, and hops, leading to a bitter finish.

Bottle: I can’t believe how impressed I was over this beer... had a disappointing experience with the Time Traveler, but this blew me away. An amber brown pour with a modest beige head, leads to an aromatic nose of sweet Belgian sugars, yeast, berries, and chocolate. Mouthfeel is a nice weight and the flavors come through bold and balanced. Chocolate, faded citrus hops, caramel, yeast, and Belgian sugars again. Some leather too… reminds me of Adam, one of my long-term favorites, albeit a milder interpretation. Really really nice stuff.

Bottle - Dark fruit, brown sugar, bit of alcohol. Dark mahogany with a thin brown head. Rasin, prune, lots of sugar and very boozy. A nice stong, but a bit too much booze.

Deep hazy dark brown coloured body with a muddy brown glow and a thick, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, a nice yeast strain, some caramel and toffee, raisins, pit fruits and a bit of chocolate too. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong malt flavour with a lot of caramel and raisin sweetness, some subdued yeast and spice flavours, but a good dense and deep chocolate and earthy malt notes. Aftertaste shows a good complex set of flavours with the sugars and yeast coming through most often. Overall, a nice belgian strong, closest to a dubbel, but a good flavour profile and some nice interesting tastes. Great to try, if you can still find it, grab it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 25-April-2013 for US$8.31 sampled at home in Washington on 23-July-2013.

Tap at Gigantic, PDX, 22/05/13. Clear chestnut brown with reddish hues and a thin beige head. Nose is dark fruits, toffee, dates, light spice. Taste comprises dark fruit compote, raisens, brown bread dough, dates, brown sugars, toffee fudge, light booze. Full end of medium bodied with fine carbonation, fruity tang in the finish. Solid enough Belgian affair.

A hazed dark brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, dark fruits with light molasses, smooth vanilla, nice. In mouth, sweet fruity malt with light caramel malt, dark fruits, a bit too sweet.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark copper color with a medium off-white head. A big fruity and nutty nose. Dark malts, big dusty yeast, Belgian candies, some heat, berries and massive sweet malts. Finishes dry. Good.
