On tap @ Patricks. Hazy orange body with a thin off-white head. Aroma is citric fruity and grassy, actually a lot milder than expected. Flavor is citric fruity and grassy with a weak an unbalanced malt flavor. Medium body. Aftertaste is just grassy and bitter. This beer is way out of balance for my liking, the regular 1000 IBU is OK, but this is mainly a grassy and bitter mess.

Pours deep, clear gold into a tulip. Mocha head conglomerates as it recedes leaving sheet lacing. Sweet bread and resin aromas. Sharp, earthy bitter hops and toast from front to back and through the lasting bitter woody finish.

Draught @ The Rover. Pours hazy dark reddish golden with a creamy white head that clings to the glass while slowly dissipating. Smell is rather subtle and slightly sweet, hoppy and fresh with caramel, citrus juice, peach, mango, papaya, pineapple and orange zest. Taste is slightly sweet and incredibly bitter with orange peal, lemon zest, grass, unripe pineapple, unripe mango, wood, resin and tons of oily pine. Mouthfeel is watery, intensely bitter and very unbalanced. Finish lasts for ages and is very oily and bitter with citrus zest and pine.

On tap at Ølfestival 2011. A minimal sized off-white head sits on top of a light amber, almost clear body. The aroma is fruity and quite hoppy, with pine cones and a malty sweetish impression. A bit one dimensional flavor, as expected, it feels quite unneccesary to do a beer like this, it’s bitterness and hops all the way, in one big mess. Medium to full body, almost astringenly bitter. Well, even though I’ve written some harsh words, I like the beer, but it sure needs the body and ABV of its bigger brother. Rating: 7-3-6-3-13-3.2. 110526
Bottle. As 1000 IBU Ultramate. A big off-white head forms over a clear, amber colored body. The head soon diminishing into a thin layer of bubbles. Lacings left. The aroma feels thin in a strange way, don’t know why it should. Resins, green pine cones and citrus peel, with some caramel maltyness. The flavor is sweet and caramel-ish in the back, but it’s still dominated by resiny, green pine cones-like hops and bitterness. Medium body, dry. Lasting bitterness in the end. An interesting beer, but not very drinkable and pleasant. It certainly lacks balance, but of course, that’s intended. 120218
