Kopi Luwak is one of the World's most expensive and rare coffee varieties. The beans are specifically selected for their ripeness and quality by the civet, a small jungle marsupial that feeds off the fruit of the coffee cherry. They are then gathered by humans from the jungle floors of Indonesia, thoroughly cleaned, and sun-dried. A precise roasting by San Diego's Ryan Bros. Coffee leads to an extremely aromatic and an exceptionally smooth final product that complements this barrel-aged imperial stout amazingly well. Good to the last dropping.

Shared by High Wine. Black body and thrown head. Aroma is weasel shit I guess. I mean its not coffee and it isn’t the smell that I will make tomorrow morning. But its not like anything else. So it must be coffee tinted rodent feces. Mouthfeel is velvety smooth but not heavy. Taste is not overly boozy or coffee. Not sweet either. Surprisingly well done.

Sample courtesy of some incredibly awesome person at the tasting, oh, it was Nick of course. Thanks Nick!! The 750mL bottle pours (should I fill my glass to the rim?) with a nice and dark body that has thin copper edges and supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up chocolate, marshmallow, oily coffee goodness and smooth brown sugar sweetened bourbon. Nice. The taste has smooth rich malt sweetened coffee goodness, sweet smooth bourbon, chocolate notes and some dark roasted maltiness there to create a bit of balance to the sweetness and oily coffee stickiness. It then slides into more and more booze and bourbon to midway and into the finish. This is just so smooth and rich with a firm degree of boozy heat into the after taste. Lovely boozy sipper.
