Belgian Style - Tripel Regular Out of Production|

This beer is an American adaptation to the classic Belgian style of beer known as a Tripel. Historically Tripels were brewed to have a very light golden color, a moderate hop presence, and be around 9% alcohol. But we are not in Belgium, so I decided to crank up the hops, dry hop the beer with American Amarillo hops, and brew it to 10% ABV. This is our American Tripel, enjoy.
Sensory Profile:
Enjoy in a goblet or wine glass.
Tropical fruit and honey are the two biggest aromas coming from this lively brew. While the hop bitterness is not as powerful as an IPA, the hop flavor melds nicely with the fruity flavors created by the imported Belgian yeast strain used.
Food Pairing: This beer goes great with roasted vegetables, fish and rotisserie chicken. And it can be used as a aperitif before dinner with shrimp cocktail.

Bottle - thanks Cletus. Pours a lighter golden color with a slight haze and two fingers of fluffy white head. Strong aroma is fruity, part dusty malt, and lightly floral. Flavor of yeast and all kinds of flowery florals. Some floral hoppiness. Gets a little confusing with the hops and the perfume things going on here... At first the tail seems like yeast, but then it gets sour? Drinks harsher than I’d like; just not digging this.

Location: Draft at Rattle 'N' Hum, 7/25/10
Aroma: The nose is mostly spice, pine, yeast, and a little booze
Appearance: It pours a crystal clear gold color, basically no head or lace
Flavor: Taste is yeasty, some spice, a touch of fruit, like hop backing
Palate: The palate is medium bodied with a decent amount of burn to it
Overall Impression: A decent tripel, could probably use a little bit of rounding into shape to reach its potential, but I still found it enjoyable.

Slightly hazy yellow color, big cloudy white head, lace. Nose has horse blanket, pine, grapefruit - pleasant aroma. Flavor is sour and has grapefruit, sweet pineapple and piney hops in it. Moderate alcohol. Sourness is a bit odd in a triple.

Bottle at the Governors Island Brewfest. A good Tripel but not outstanding. Pours a cloudy gold with a moderate, white head. Good amount of citrus hops in the aroma, only faint hints of Belgian yeast and phenols. Flavor is fairly sweet, with light yeast, citrus fruits, then a notable bitter character takes hold and leads to the finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation and mild booziness. A decent interpretation of the style.
