Rich caramel, spice, and dried fruit aroma, with chocolate, something like rum, raisins, smoke. Very chewy and rich. dark brown, almost black, with reddish-orange tints and a fine tan head. Rich, malty flavor, lots of caramel and toffee, plus some sweet orange, spices, riasins andndried plum, and a slightly roasted, slightly hoppy bitterness that really works to balance out the rich malt. Rather well carbonated and a bit prickly. Very nice prior-strengthed 8. The spicing is retrained and nice.

(draught 0,25l) Light sweet, spicy/herbs aroma. Dark brown color. Minimal light brown bubble head. Medium sweet, spicy taste. Medium body. Sticky texture. Light sour, light alcohol warm finish, but good covered by spicy aftertaste.

Beautiful pour, jet black body and gigantic head. Aroma is dirty motor oil, licorice, rubber, and leather pants that have been sweat on by a has-been heavy-metal guitarist. Taste is bread and licorice candy, syrup, like sucking on mahogany wood coated in lacquer; bark, badger hair, old spice that has been simmered in a pan, deglazed, and poured over beef; it’s a heavy taste all right, not an everyday brew, but pretty good for a strong beer and despite its complexity still not too overpowering.

Medium beige head. Deep dark red body. Fruity earthy licorice aroma with aniseed notes. Dry-sweet earthy fruity raisiny taste with licorice notes. Light body. Mild mouthfeel. Dry oily licorice and cardamom aftertaste with light dried fruit notes. Nice, drinkable, maybe somewhat overspiced. (0.33l bottle, Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen.)

Raisin aroma. Clear mahogany, thick tan head, good lacing. Raisins and white grape flavor, with a roasted malt base. Quite metallic at times. Subdued candi finish, with a touch of grass. Solid for what it is, but the complexity I expected for a spiced ale was missing.

Came in a 8-pack gift set at the SAQ. Pours a real deep brown colour (almost black) with red highlights. The head is big, creamy, tanned, has great retention and leaves good lacing all-around. Highly carbonated. The nose is quite fruity with plum, and has some chocolate and alcohol. Smooth with a mild creamy mouthfeel. The taste is what the aromas give out. Dark fruits, chocolate, but not overall sweet. More on the dry-bitter side with notes of coffee. Nice complex brew from this brewery that is not known to be like that.

750 ml. Deep brown body with ruby highlights. Large, frothy, fizzy head, tan and mostly lasting. Reduces to pools of fizzy tan bubbles. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, molasses, slightly roasted malts, basement, alcohol, raisin, fig, anise and date. The flavor is heavily sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes moderately sweet, moderately bitter and moderately acidic. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. The beer leaves a first impression of being thick with malts and sweet, but is balanced in the finish with back-of-the-mouth bitterness and acidity, though the tart/sourness is not overwhelming. Flavors of toffee, licorice, candy sugar. The aroma is inviting, complex.
