Rumble IPA is an American IPA with subtle nuance. Brewed with heavy-handed additions of Pacific Northwest hops, this beer is gently aged on French and American oak resulting in a wonderful balance of bitterness, caramel sweetness, vanilla, and undertones of pine and citrus.

Bottle from Sugaya. Shared at a tasting at my house. 7.1% a light copper gold pour with an off-white head. A clear copper gold , bitter tasty oak with fruity IPA bitterness. Good stuff. ---update---- I got myself another bottle of this, drunk from a snifter at my place. A beautiful copper orange gold with a filmy beige head. The aroma is fruity hops with a hint of the underlying barrel. Medium bodied with a slightly scratchy mouthfeel. The flavor is hoppy with a good dose of caramel and some oakiness. Better than the first time but I feel that the IPA character and the barrel don’t fully meld. Still good though.

bottle. Had a tough time deciding if I liked this IPA. The vanilla seemed overwhelming in the one I had. Perhaps an acquired taste. Big fan of Great Divide so I’ll try again before I dismiss completely

Nice integration here for a concept that seems to fight itself. Citrus and malt, barrel is subtle enough to be good by my standards. Bitter finish with some residual booze. Only barrel I taste in this is a hint of woodiness in finish. Pours dark amber with good head and lacing. Bottle.

Bottle from yankee spirits in Sturbridge MA Pours a clear medium gold color with a decent head that leaves plenty of lace on the way down. Smells of caramel, toffee, earthy pine, a hint of wood and vanilla. The flavor is a bit sweet with caramel brown sugar and toffee up front. Next comes an onslaught of earthy pine bitterness that borders at times on the harsh. Light vanilla and oak creep in before a lingering hop bite. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick resinous mouthfeel. This ones good, but the hops feel a bit faded but still quite harsh. A bit of oxidation messes with the smoothness and adds some toffee sherry notes that are out of place in my opinion.

Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm
Hazy amber color with creamy head. Aroma of wood, yeast, crystal malt, light vanilla. Smooth mouthfeel; sweetish malt flavor, with some vanilla; correct bitterness, a bit of cookie dough too, and light lemon cookies in the end.
Flavorful, but can easily be cloying.

Copper color with a thin head. Lots of yeast and hops in the aroma, giving this a Belgian character. There is oak in the flavor, but it is bitter with piney hops and lightly sweet malt. Good.

A rather muted version of an IPA. The oak aging really lessens the hop bite and allows other flavors to rise to the surface, in this case some uncharacteristic malty sweetness. Its IPA beginnings are still there, but not quite so pronounced. It’s a nice alternative to the big-hop, big-citrus IPAs out there.

New Beer Distributors, NY 355ml ($2.25): Pours light amber with a beige head. Aroma is mostly hops, with some wood-aged notes, but not as many as I thought that there would be. The taste manifests it a little bit more. Hops are definitely rather tame for an IPA. Slight bitter aftertaste. This is pretty good.

Bottle. Biscuity caramel malt and orange vanilla aroma. Orange amber with a large beige head, nice lacing. Biscuity malt, sweet caramel, oaky vanilla, mild earthy hops flavor. Full sticky body, low carbonation.
