[9/27/15] Draught sample at Borefts After Festival 2015 in Rotterdam. Black. Aroma of wood, roast, cocoa. Dry flavor, roasty, woody, slightly sourish, with coffee, cocoa, vinous fruitiness, and a bitter finish. Medium-bodied.

Thx! for sharing. Sampled draft @ BAF 2015. Very dark brown to black, no head. Nose is oily syrup, flat, heavy licorice syrup. Taste is watery licorice, herbal, bark, weird herbal notes, charred oak, herbal,… Watery thick licorice body. Meh & seems like I like it noticeably less than the regular version.

Bottle. Black creamy pour. Aroma of fruity whiskey, berries and caramel. Nice flavor of fruity whiskey booze, vanilla, chocolate, mild citrus and cream. Versatile and tasty.

Wel ok, maar te veel koolzuur

Keg @ Wigan Central, Wigan. Hazy dark brown with a creamy-bubbly off-white head. Certainly strong tasting and the spirit infusion is evident, but there’s plenty of smoothness in its texture and milky roasted malts to be enjoyed too.

Bottle. Black with very big beige head. Berries, lots of spices, vanilla, very earthy wood, red wine, coffee and cocoa beans, bitter vegetal notes like unripe berries. Medium sweet with medium bitter finish and light tart touch throughout. Full bodied, slightly over carbonated. Nice, but a bit too much going on for me. Stone fruits, berries, coffee, roasted malts, lots of spices and big citrusy hops, light vanilla too. Taste is slightly sweet at first, then goes into roasted bitter and finishes with a big hop bitterness. Medium bodied, slightly thin feeling and average carbonation. Complex stuff, it’s a lot of different things, but works quite nicely together.

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate, whiskey, roasted malt, coffee. Flavour is chocolate, whiskey, berries, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, alcohol. Medium body. Nice beer.

Bottle from trade with Benzai, many thanks! Schwarzes Bier mit schöner großen beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, leicht torfig, holzig, Kaffee. Geschmack röstmalzig süß, etwas holzig, Karamell, Vanille, weich, minimal alkoholisch.
