Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque black color, medium to full sized off-white head that lasts for quite a while. Smell malts, lightly leaves, a bit dusty. Taste malts, slightly roasted malts, a hint of leaves, bitter, don’t get any wood aging though. Decent body and carbonation. Ok beer Earlier Rating: 11/6/2012 Total Score: 4.133cl bottle shared with Dutchdrebus. Murky red brown color with a huge lightly creamy fair lacing beige head. Smell malts, slightly peat, slightly whisky, a hint of smoke. Taste malts, lightly alcohol, roastyness, slightly peat, slightly smoke and a nice bitterness. Quite nicely balanced. Again Ramses has delivered imo. Good carbonation, medium to full body. This brewer really is underestimated. Great stuff. Earlier Rating: 2/2/2012 Total Score: 3.3Sampled @ PINT Winterbierfestival, Gouda 2012. Slightly hazy brownish, small off-white head. Smell is weird and hard to describe, but it’s ok. Taste burned malts, roasty and hints of coffee but I don’t taste wood. Average carbo, average body.

Bottle. As Shire Stout Whiskey Barrel. It pours a huge, light beige colored head that leaves lacings. The beer is dark brown in color, clear looking and with aromas of dark chocolate dominating. Some dried fruits and a hint of booze as well. Coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts and a boozy hint in the mouth, full-bodied and with a pleasant carbonation. Lasting roasted finish with chocolate, coffee and some whiskey. Surprisingly, this is even more boring than the regular edition, although marginally. 140530

Bottled as Whiskey Barrel Aged, bottled 17-01-2013, large sample, served in a TeKu. Ingredients mention coffee, gale, juniper berries, vanilla. Pours a dark brown color with a huge frothy off-white head. Aroma is spicy, chocolate, caramel, some oak wood, licorice, some dark fruit, raisin. Medium sweet in taste, bit dry, slight spicy bitterness. Quite high in carbonation, bit thin in body. Dont get the whisky barrel that much. Not too impressed to be honest.

Bottle from Rootz at the Harbour. Poured a clear dark brown with a round off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt light alcohol. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a watery boozy alcohol liqourice roasted malt palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A little on the light side for a barrel aged stout. It should be clinging to the side of me mouth and I should be chewing this.. but I wasn’t.
