We traditionally brew gallons of Vietnamese Coffee with a phin-style filter that gently percolates water through ground coffee. The result is a chocolatey and bold-tasting coffee that perfectly compliments the notes of oak, vanilla, and bourbon barrel in this massive barrel-aged stout, a true AleSmith legend.

16 oz. Can. Thank you Tom! Aroma is mild coffee, weak barrel. Chocolate. Flavor follows. Unfortunately, the brewery has sacrificed the body of this base stout. It seems a lot thinner than it should be. Ends on oak. Just ok.

Canned 9/27/24, drunk 9/20/25, compliments of tfontana.
Clear, dark, not super much so. Small, tan head, low retention.
Definitely some condensed milk and sugar in there. Hints of roast with very little, but not non-existent barrel. Light vanilla, sweet, fudgey, easygoing. No alcohol, but also doesn't display much richness or strength.
Soft, sweet, with condensed milk and a bit of stickiness. There's a bit of oomph but for the most part this is head-scratchingly thin and so low in barrel. Maybe some tannic oak on the finish but not even definite bourbon. It's not a Trainwreck or anything, but it's just do low in intensity for its size and displays no interesting barrel.

Toch alweer 3 jaar oud.

Canned, 473 ml, shared with Luka and MiroB. Black with tan head. Chocolate, cocoa, coffee, bourbon. Bit warming. Somewhat thin for the style and reputation.

Refrigerated pint can poured into a glass. Blank with medium brown head. Aroma is rich coffee, thick body, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is rich coffee and decadent chocolate.

Tap @ Væskebalancen Bar, Aarhus. Black with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, heavy coffee and bourbon. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish with warming alcohol. Oily. 310125

Keg at Brewdog Paddington, London. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Rich, sweet, boozy, coffee, bourbon, chocolate, caramel, vanilla aroma and taste. A decent imperial stout but I expected more at the high price point.
