Keg at brewdog Shepardโ€™s bush. Clear rich red mahogany coloured beer with a thin lasting off white head. Aroma is lush cherry funk, some horse, sweat, plum. Flavour is nutty, sweet cherry, liquorice, cinnamon. Slightly meaty. Medium sweet slightly sticky palate melts on the tongue. Pretty good.

On tap at Bangers & Lace. Pours a hazy amber gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a light sour red fruit note backed by a light bread note. Flavor has more of an earthy funk with sweet grains and only a hint of tart red fruit.

Draft at Rustico Alexandria poured into a tasting snifter. Pours a cola brown with off-white head. Possibly some redness in the color but there wasnโ€™t a good light source in the bar at the time. Aromas of vinegar, oak, dark fruit. Tastes of big oak, vinegar, tart dark fruit. Light body with a dry oaky finish.

Nose: Slight sour, lots and lots of vanilla, little cola: enticing. Taste is vanilla, smoke, tannin very, very, very, very slight oak and sour notes. Some red berries and dark fruits. Mouthfeel is too thin and flat. I donโ€™t understand this brewer, they are wildly inconsistent, and despite promising wild beer, they seem incapable of producing sours.

Tap at Jeffrey pours ruby brown with thin quickly vanishing head. Great nose of berries and oak really appealing. Tastes of blackberry, plums, oak, vanilla, some yeast, slight vinegar. Not really tart at all, very clean tasting. Interesting

Bottle. Pours with a hazed deep brown hue with red highlights and a frothy off-white head. Aromas are of spicy oak barrel notes, vanillin, lactones, dill, herbal, vinous red wine, strong tannins, funky notes of leather and red currants, mild acetone. Flavors are lightly roasty with strong earthy notes, sharp alcohol and spicy barrel notes. Mild acetone. After the initial hit there are more rounded notes of plums, currants, and dark fruit. Quite dry feeling for an old ale, with a decent amount of tannins in the finish. Slightly warming, thinner carbonation. Medium bodied. Vinous. Not bad.
