Dry hopped saison brewed with local rye and wheat.
Introducing Saison Dolores, Almanac’s newest year-round beer. A bright, aromatic brew for all seasons inspired by San Francisco’s Mission District. We combine barley, rye and Sonoran Wheat grown in Mendocino County and ferment the beer with our house Saison yeast. Finally we dry hop it to create a California Saison with flavors of spicy white pepper, fruity melon and a clean food friendly finish.
Enjoy this lively aromatic farmhouse ale with fresh seafood, funky washed rind cheeses and classic french-style charcuterie.
Canned version introduced in 2016 part of the fresh beer series, brewed and canned in San Francisco at Fort Point.

Bottle. Curious Hop, Otley. Hazy, orangey gold. Thin, sticky, bubbly, bright white head. Chewy, bready malts. Sweet and grainy. Orange peel. Some herbal, minty action. Taste is grainy sweet. Soft bitterness. Bit of peppery spice. Fullish body. Slinky stuff. Finishes with a clean, hoppy bitterness. It’s all a bit at odds with itself, but I must say I absolutely smashed it!

[9/24/15] Bottle sample at the pre-Borefts tasting at ABC Beers in Den Haag. Thanks everyone who shared bottles! Clear golden. Fruity aroma, grainy, a bit spicy, with a bit of cardboard. Sweetish flavor with cardboard, fruitiness, a bit of honey, spiciness. Medium-bodied.

Bomber. Hazy gold. Bubbly white head. Smells very piney. Good mouthfeel. Spicy from the rye. Faded hops. Not much yeast presence. These don’t travel well.
