Can shared at Monyo. Pours copper with and off-white head. Nose is dank citrusy and resinous hops and caramely-biscuity hops. Taste bittersweet notes of caramel, biscuits and pine. Closes with bitter finish, has a medium body and soft to average carbonation.

Bottle at home. Aroma of malt, caramel, dried fruits, apricots, toffee, alcohol, hops. Flavour is sweet with a nice moderate bitersweet finish. Sticky and syrupy, full body. This is my kind of Barley Wine: Fruity, hoppy and with a balanced bttersweet flavour. Delicious beer.

Can. Deep amber with a scant coat of beige head. Big malty aroma with singed toffee, bread, spices, hints of hazelnuts. Getting towards syrupy, low carbonation. Rich and fairly sweet with some overt alchol. Bitterness is firmish but struggles a little - now I see that bb is 6/24. Still pretty good though.

26/5/2024. Can shared by ITFCDan. From Hopsters, Ipswich. Pours dark hazelnut brown with a small bubbly/frothy off-white head. Aroma is malty, toffee, nutty, biscuit, dates, prunes, slight perfumed edge. Taste is very sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, smooth, average to soft carbonation. Sweet toffee finish. Not amazing.

Poured from 330mL can (bb 12/24; batch 21.151; canned 07/12/21). Quite hazy orangey brown with small beige head. Toffee forward with figs, caramel and booze, feint hops, pretty good.

Draught@TCBW2022. Brownish amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is floral, fruity, some nectary and mild toffee tones with mild marzipan and some alcohol too. Flavour is floral, fruity, alcoholic with some spiciness and mild nutty and toasted tones as well.

I received a 33 cl can from a helpful Dutch beer seller recently. On the table I have a globe glass prepared to receive the pour. I see a dark orange-red body completed by a strong top of eggshell brown foam. The scent is ripe fruit and grain and hard candy. I lift the glass for a taste, well it is all right but not to the level I hoped for. Malt, red plums, cane sugar, barley, a touch of sourness and bread. Actually there is improvement with the drink warming up. But not a lot.

Nice smooth and easy drinkable BW. No heavy hop profile. Just enough to make it more refreshing to drink Clear nutty pour and a fine head. Pleasant intensity in the aroma Balanced sweetness and a fine balanced bitterness Smooth carbonation level. Also a well masked alcohol level Dangerously easy to drink Toffee, caramel malt, fruity, bready and mild citric hoppy flavor [Can from a trade with Grima]
