0.75 l bottle from 'Etre Gourmet', best before December 2019, cellared for two-and-a-half years. Opens with a loud bang. Clear, amber with a massive, foamy, stable, white head. Slightly sweetish, moderately floral, slightly grassy, a bit yeasty-spicy and a little fruity aroma of hay, dried apricot and some honey. Slightly sweet, a bit malty, moderately bitter, gently yeasty-spicy taste of caramel, honey, hay, dried apricot and clove, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, quite yeasty-spicy, slightly boozy and a little grassy finish. Medium body, rather effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Nice beer, not really Saison-ish anymore but nevertheless quite enjoyable, just a bit too boozy.

On tap at Vrteška 2018, Belgrade. Dark golden, small off-white head. Lightly spicy, lightly fruity, lightly malty. Slightly tart, alcohol is hidden, light lemony flavours, estery, peach. Medium body, moderate carbonation, moderately lasting finish.

Dark orange fading into amber, quite hazy. Not too much of a head, expecially per style, but still holds well and leaves nice lacing. Good intensity in the aroma. Red fruits and orange take the main stage, with an underlying caramel sweet malty base. A touch of spiciness. Slight grassy notes and a pleasant hint of a musty/earthy feel. Taste opens on the sweet side with caramel malts and sugary hints, strong red (almost dried) fruit notes soon take the main stage, with a pleasant warming feel that still hides the abv pretty well. A hint of spiciness shows up as well. Finish is balanced with a bit of lingering sweetness in a slightly grassy and earthy feel. Overall this stands in the middle between a saison and an amber strong ale. Medium bodied (actually a bit light for the abv) with medium to high carbonation, resulting in a lively, quite easy mouthfeel for a beer of that abv, which also shows a bit of warming character. This was very interesting, complex and still quite easily drinkable. Sadly, i found a bit too much muddiness in a not too clean aftertaste. Still highly satisfying however.

Tap at Foeders, Amsterdam, 5th November 18. Pours an orange beer, off clear. Aroma is yeast, citrus. Taste is yeasty, citrus, slight grain, slight sourness. Good.

Le terroir belge...je trouve que dans cette La Moneuse de la brasserie de Blaugies ressort le terroir belge. Et un peu à l'instar des cidres fermiers,, je retrouve ce côté terroir dans cette bière. Mais outre cela, je trouve cette bière très intéressante aromatiquement avec une belle complexité autour du fruit et des épices. Je trouve cependant la saison d'épeautre du même brasseur plus équilibrée et cette dernière a donc ma préférence. En verre, nous sommes sur un blond orangé trouble surmonté d'une mousse blanc cassée de 5 mm, donc rien d'extraordinaire. Son caractère bien forgé se fait ressentir dès le nez : beaucoup de fruits (pomme, poire, banane, orange, citron notamment), des épices (coriandre en tête) un petit peu de miel et un côté terreux faisant terroir. A noter une acidité marquante qui sera omniprésente à la dégustation, légèrement trop poussée à mon goût. D'ailleurs l'attaque est axée sur cette acidité avec des arômes de citron mais permettant tout de même aux autre arômes fruités et épicés de s'exprimer. la deuxième bouche s'adoucit quelque peu toujours avec une pointe acide conférant de la fraîcheur et avec une très bonne complexité aromatique. Sur la troisième bouche et le final, l'amertume augmente très légèrement (tout en restant mesurée) pour retomber assez rapidement. L'ensemble des arômes restent cependant longtemps en bouche. A noter une astringence certaine qui pourrait déplaire à certains. L'alcool à 8 % est bien dosé sans se faire réellement ressentir (hormis sur le final où il est légèrement présent). Bière très intéressante, agréable, qu'il faut avoir testé, même si pour ma part je retournerai davantage vers l'épeautre.

Bouteille 750ml. Couleur cuivrée trouble, mousse beige. Arôme de levure, côté légèrement grillé, fruité, herbacé. Goût de levure, malt, léger sucre, fruité. Carbonatation élevée, corps moyen.

Pours golden and with some foam. Soft Belgian candy in the nose, yeast spices. Relatively clean Belgian saison nose, not too much funk there (but I do like funk). Taste has some sweetness, quite light and actually not cloying at al, great balance between sweet and dry. Feels fresh, light bitterness next to sweeter notes. Tasty classic saison.
