Keg at Young & Jackson, Melbourne. Sampled Dec 2017. Pours clear dark red amber with a beige cap. Aroma: bread, grass, toffee. Taste: moderate sweet & bitter, rich & malty, bread, toffee, fruitcake. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Not a style I'm a fan of but this was decent.

(On tap) Clear reddish brown with small off-white head. Odd aroma - dark toffee with nutty earthy notes. Medium body, sticky, light carbonation. Burnt toffee, dried fruit. Bitterness in finish. Not to my taste.

568ml bottle into pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy copper colour with a large white head. Very light carbonation. Laces a bit. Nose is dark caramel malt. A little effervescent in the mouth with burnt caramel notes. Later some bitter herbs appear. The long evolving finish is great with dark fruitcake, minty herbs, and boiled lollies all in the mix. Gets better as it warms up a bit. Nice ale, 6.5% not noticeable.

Bottle. Amber with an inch+ of off white head that lasts and laces very well. Aroma of layers of toffee, gentle floral notes. Moderately sweet with a lovely transparent lager palate leading to firm, grassy and slightly spicy bitterness. Just a touch of biscuit under the toffee. Could have been slightly spicier. Very impressive.
