Sample from bottle at Winterbier Festival Gouda 2014. Dark brown color. Short beige head. Aroma’s: tart, citrussy hops, sweet malts. Retronasal there’s (wet) wood, sweet & sour, red fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet ’n’ tart. Medium bodied. finishes roasted, bitter. Not bad, but I expected a barley wine, not a Flemish brown.

Amber colour, no real head. Malty aroma, citrussy hops, lemon zest and marmalade. Light bitter flavour, caramel, malts, hops, light nuts and marmalade. Finish lemon peel and marmalade. Nice, and my favourite of the two versions. Though also with this one, I imagine it would become better with some age on it.

Re-rate November 30th 2013. Bottle thanks to Erwin van Moll @ Van Moll Brewpub. Hazy reddish color, small off-white head. Smell lightly malts, sweetness, lightly fruityness. Taste lightly malts, sweetness, lightly fruits and also some bitter. Medium body and carbonation. Abit better than two weeks ago. --- Bottle shared by Martinus @ weekly tasting. Hazy red to lightly brownish color, virtually no head. Smell malts, some hops. Taste malts, some hops, slightly bitter, but also something weird. Average body and carbonation. Might be too young.
