Dark beer, almost black with creamy and brown foam. Rich and powerful beer with a very long after-taste. Very complex and still soft aroma. The high level of alcohol is very subtlety hidden. It is prepared with strongly roasted malt which gives its very special taste.

Sampled from the tap at Hopcat A2. Pours a deep amber with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet fruit, caramel and grains with biscuit supporting. Flavor has light fruits and biscuit with an earthy grains backing.

dark brown colour with reddish notes, large, dense, though not too stable beige-ish head; aroma of dried plum, some raisins, burnt sugar, some anise, vinous notes and hints of herbal notes; taste of burnt sugary bittersweetness, syrupy notes, dried fruits (plum, dried sour cherry, maybe dates, too), anise, some (mulled) wine, herbal notes and spicy alcohol - bottled Christmas feeling

Bought 12/2014, bbd 04/2016. Deep ruby brown colour, small frothy beige head, diminishing slowly, a small creamy layer remains, light lacing. Sweet malty aroma, rich, delicate and vinous aroma, roasted malts, caramel, brown sugar, candy syrup, cinnamon, dried dark fruit notes. Very smooth taste, heavy sweet, ever so slightly bitter, roasted malts, brown sugar, dried dark fruits, touch of chocolate, alcohol, all elements that continue in the aftertaste, additional a light bitter note, spicy and liquorice notes, warming alcohol. Full-bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation; well-balanced, rich, round and complex, excellent stuff, the best Val Dieu can deliver.

Tap at Moeder Fontaines. Rich, full bodied. Lots of maltiness going on, caramelly dried fruits. Slight warming alcohol. Rather sweet. Delicate, soft, yet rich and intense. Great beer.

4 oz draft pour at Rustico Alexandria. Poured a pretty dark, cola color with a light brown head. Aroma was light funky notes, sweet, roasted malts. Light dark, dried fruits. A little bit of vinous notes hidden in there.
