Traditionally, Imperial Stouts, the biggest and boldest of all stouts, were brewed with massive amounts of roasted malts and hops, resulting in a velvety smooth but robust beer characterized by high alcohol content and extremely high hop bitterness. Meeting the challenge of this aggressive, challenging beer style, Great Divide's Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti's hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish.

Flaska från SB. Svart vätska med mörkt skum. Doft av kaffe, tobak och röda bär. Sammansatt och bra smak där kaffet framträder tillsammans med syrliga bär. Mjuk men eldig munkänsla.

Yeah, MatSciGuy’s. Just wow! Huge, huge thanks! You know... the Oak Aged Yeti was the first American-brewed beer I’d ever tried, back in 2007.... I’ve tried the Espresso version in the meantime but it took 7 years till I got to try the original... wow :). In any case, pitch black more or less with a dark brown medium sized head. Aroma... coffee, soft, creamy maltiness, caramel (yeah, now I see that it says the same in the comm description too, but it’s not off the mark), lovely... Distinct notes of chocolate, malty, rye bread, very light alcohol. Chicory bomb in the taste, dry, sweetish yet soft, some jaffa cakes, light bitterness (when 75 IBU shows as "light" you can imagine how full this is... or how burned out our palates were at that point... oops?) going into the finish. Deserves the hype in any case.

Bottle from Bottle Shop at home. Pitch black pour with thin dark tan head. Aroma is roasted, chocolate, nut, and a bit of juicy hops. Delicious. Taste is big roasted malts, bitter, chocolate, with surprising juicy hops flavor before bitter boozy finish with lasting bitterness. Rich but not oily palate. Really great imperial stout.

Backlog. Had this several times, both bottle & draught. Bottled version: pitch black color, opaque. Thick dark head, which recedes after some time. Aroma’s: strongly roasted, ground coffee, mocha, light fruit. Burnt malts, some acidity, sharp & sweet malts retronasal. Flavor is moderate sweet, hard roast, light acidity. Strong alcohol feel. Full bodied, thick mouthfeel. Long finish with quite harsh bitterness. This rating doesn’t seem to make it appealing, but it was very good!

Black whith thick, lasting, lacing tan head. Rich malty aroma, dark chocolate and licorice. Fluffy, creamy mouthfeel with light alc burn. Bitter flavour, malty with licorice and bitter coffee, roasted malt and dark chocolate. Piney, hoppy bitternes to balance. Raw licorice in the finish. Such a good impy, glad to have found this one again!
