Dark brown, a little roasty but w some tartness. Quite sweet, rich stingy malt but tempered by Belgiany sift yeast accents.

Draught as part of a tasting paddle at Rubber Duckie Taphouse, Sydney, on July 14, 2013.Described as a "Farmhouse Imperial Stout".Black color, brown head. Alcohol, sweet, roasted, coffee, dry taste. Dry, grainy, alcohol aftertaste. Warming alcohol. Smooth mouthfeel, high dry bitterness. Sweet, malty scent, also light acidic.

(Bottle) Pours opaque black with big tan head. Aroma is subtler than I expected, with chocolate, coffee and slightly earthy notes. This is the fullest bodied beer I have tasted, almost as viscous as a smoothie. It is well carbonated too giving it a very unusual mouthfeel. The taste is full and complex. There’s a lot of sweetness initially, dark toffee perhaps. There’s dark chocolate and coffee and some offsetting fruity tanginess in the background at the start. The high alcohol content is apparent, but not intrusive. There is quite a lot more going on taste-wise but it is rather complex. There’s a very long rich and bitter finish, but the bitterness is not hoppy, more like dark bitter chocolate or black coffee. Overall an extraordinary beer. Definitely not one for everyday. (This seemed an appropriate choice, with the image on the label and the name for my 666th beer review).

[8/12] Bottle, 14C. Black with a small tan head that fades to a coat. Aroma of roasted malt, weeds, earth, chicory. Not that sweet, but taste has molasses and kola nut, powdery cocoa. Astringent, earthy and herbal with vague bitterness. Warming rather than hot alcohol. Faintly rummy. No residual sweetness. Interesting, but the flavours don’t (yet?) meld together. [3.4] [3/13] Bottle, 12C. Black with an inch of tan head. Mysterious funky earthy aroma with coffee and chicory, roasted barley, dark berries. Tight powerful roasted flavours, dark rum, pinot noir, cocoa. Insistent coffee, spices and zingy astringent flavours build. Now seems coiled. [3.6] [3/14] Black with an inch of tan head that lasts well. Lots of chicory, light roasted coffee, earthy. Body was never substantial, seems to be thinning. Quite interesting. Not clear this is going anywhere, though.[6/14] Last bottle, just a few days after its bb date. Black, 2 inches of head fades to a good coat. Very earthy, still quite boozy, a little astringent. Reminds me a bit of Moa IS - berries, moderate roast, chicory, that Murray’s rumminess. Still torn on this one - an interesting not-quite-success, I guess. Will get again if hiding anywhere. 3.7, but leaving score as journey average.
