25/05/2012 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Corpo medio, carbonazione soft. In pessime condizioni.

Tap (growler). About 15000km from the diner, apparently. 11C. Cloudy mid brown with a small beige head. Aroma of nuts, flowers, bitter oranges. Low carbonation, smooth texture. The first beer I’ve had from these folks where I can see why they go on about the water. Sweet and fruity with some nuts and toast before firm citrus bitterness. A good food-friendly quaffer.

On tap at The Nighthawk Diner. A small, off-white head sits on top of a hazy, brown body. The aroma is roasted, with lots of piney, resiny hops, at least a lot if you consider the beer a brown ale. There’s a good bitterness in the flavor, with roasted caramel maltyness and piney, resiny hop flavors. Full-bodied, smooth and nicely carbonated, it finishes roasted and pleasantly bitter. A quite lovely one, tasteful and sort of quenching too, although that isn’t it’s main attribute. A lovely burger beer maybe. 100820

Tap @ Henriks. Was surprised when I heard they had made a blend of brown ale and IPA, but the result was not bad. Pours a dark, unclear body with a small gray head. Nose was quite anonymous with hints of chocolate and hops. Quite malty with a nice citrus and bittersweet finish. Different and some what interesting.

Tap @ Nighthawk Diner. Almost clear amber body with a fine lasting tan head. Aroma of fresh citric hops, malt, biscuit and some caramel. Flavor is refreshing fruity, malty, some biscuit and slightly burnt caramel with a fine bitter finish. I was a bit skeptic to this blend idea, as I would never thought the Brown ale will go well together with the IPA. Well, I was wrong, this is a delicious combo. Very nice flavor, smooth and definitively quaffable.

Medium beige head. Hazy brown body. Citric floral mango aroma with orange sherbet notes. Clear and vivid. Dry-bitter oranges and mango taste with floral grassy notes. Light body. Mild mouthfeel. Dry-bitter wooden lemongrass aftertaste with spicy citric peppery notes. A bit thin and bitter, but nice and drinkable. (0.33l draft at The Nighthawk Diner, Oslo.)

On tap at The Nighthawk Diner, Oslo July 2010. Hazy brown with a small head. Quite interesting blend between an IPA and Brown Ale Nøgne Ø. Aroma was much like an IPA, taste was more lika a Brown Ale. Easy to drink, rather refreshing. Fruit, chocolate, citrus. Medium carbonation. Was served too cold.
