330ml bottle into glass. Very active head, a real gusher. Nose is milk chocolate. Massive soapy tan head slowly recedes. Great deep red colour with champagne carbonation. Fizzy in the mouth, good body. Finish is smoky, a little chocolate, then sour fruit. Quite similar to Tooheys Old. Tasty.

From a 330ml bottle on 5/5/2011. Pours a very dark amber with a modest head. Smells mainly of sweet caramel malt. Has an interesting flavour, beginning with sweet chocolate, caramel and toffee, which is quickly followed by an intense and long roasty bitterness. The carbonation is fine and the body is relatively light. A good beer, and a little harshly treated on here.

Pours very dark brown with ruby highlights and a large lasting head.Nose shows caramel, milk chocolate and roasted malt. Quite sweet smelling. Some nutty hints also show.Flavours are dominated by roasted malt with little of the complexity shown in the aroma. Some sweet caramel comes through towards the finish.Carbonation is much too high and the body feels watery.

Bottle. Darkish brown with a light beige head. Aroma of toffee, cocoa, roasted malt and grass. Taste has plenty of toffee but the roasted malt is not lost. Nice distinct bitterness comes into a finish that’s still quite malty but not very sweet. Pretty tasty blend of Gippsland Gold and Hatlifter.
