Gezondheid!

Bottle from LDW. Hazy blond colour, white foam. Citrussy, some spices. Bit unbalanced. Boring beer.

Bottled 330ml (from BBF, BB 06/2016)
Golden color, bubbles, small white head. Aroma is fruity apricot, grapes, lychee. Medium-bodied, even a bit watery. Front has apricot, banana but then quite strong grassy and citrus hoppyness. Fruity and hoppy but not sweet. Light for its ABV. Evidently yeast is Belgian and hops from America.

The blonde one in this small series, bottle from Van Eetvelde. Relatively thin and quickly opening, irregular, yellowish white head over a lightly hazy golden blonde beer with peachy hue. Aroma of gooseberries, sweaty grains, soap, very clear DMS (overcooked cauliflower) to the point where it becomes disturbing, bubblegum, grass, sugarloaf, hints of green apple, field flowers, vague iron and grass. Crisp and somewhat spritzy onset, carbonation distracting a bit but not becoming bothersome, restrained fruitiness of apple peel, apricot and pineapple, ’Belgian bubblegum’ and white candi sugar effect with a sweetness that becomes even slightly aspartame-like at some point, smooth and lightly oily mouthfeel but somewhat thinnish body, grainy with a light sweetish breadiness, minerally and even a tad metallic, slick with a fading finish not adding a lot to the whole, except for an echo of leafy hops, failing to provide any true bitterness against the initial sweetness, which lingers in the mouth; the lack of hops render the finish even a bit watery. This is far from flawless to begin with, and even if it were correctly executed (without e.g. the DMS), it would still be another sweet Belgian ’outdoors café’ blonde to drink carelessly, not adding anything whatsoever to its style. What a disappointment compared to its amber brother...

Erg goed bier, smaak blijft helaas gemiddeld lang hangen.
