Can. Dark brown with a light tan head that's soon less than a coat. Aroma of coffee, roast, molasses, chocolate brioche, spices. 7+ A little more than medium bodied, quite low carbonation. Rich but not very sweet with a soft bread and mocha feel before insistent spicy bitterness grips. I really like the way the hops come in late and are punchily spicy. Good beer.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up at Clapton Craft. Pours rich brown with a modest, foamy beige head. Fairly sweet overall, lots of caramelised sugars, gooey chocolate, soft roast, brown bread. Medium to full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine, massaging carbonation. Minimal warmth in the finish, some lightly sticky toasted sugars, more chocolate. Certainly enjoyable.

Keg at Holyrood 9A. Black body with a thin beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of charred wood, chocolate and plum. Flavour of caramel, sticky toffee and prunes. Medium body with a slick mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Luxurious and elegant.
