Bottle at Leighton’s Euro Semi-Final tasting, thanks to Leighton. It pours deep ruby, with a thick beige head. The nose is roasted malt, caramel, brown sugar, cola and some meatiness. The taste is caramel, tangy dark fruit, light roasted malt, hint of charcoal and cola, with dryness in the finish. Light body and moderate carbonation. Not bad.

50 cl. bottle from a Coop Nära, Stockholm. I had the anniversary version at CBF 2012 and I loved it. So why not try the low alcohol version. Dark brown colour with dark red hues, fast fading light tannned head. Sweet and light roasted aroma with coffee and chocolate. Taste is light sweet. Light body with a thin to creamy texture, soft carbonated. Short finish with roasted notes, coffee and light hops. Obviously this beer is not as good as the higher abv. versions. The porter-style flavours is a bit hard to get. This is more like a dunkel. Still a solid brew considering the low abv.

Bottle. Dark brown to black with a film of head. Toasted roasted malt aroma. Flavour is a toned down version of the aroma.

500 ml bottle bought @ Ica Supermarket. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Smell is malty and slightly sweet with subtle hints of coffee. Taste is malty and sweet with subtle hints of coffee and cacao. It has a rather weak hoppy bitterness to it. Finish is sweet and slightly bitter. This doesn’t taste much but it’s quite good for a low alcohol beer. It’s also great for cooking chili :)

Tack, men nej tack.

Clear dark reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet and a little roasted malt. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Dry and light bitter finish. Watery. I really loved the original, and this is disappointingly far from it. 190911

Very dark brown with a light brown head - malty aroma - taste is of lightly roasted malts - and it is quite good considering the low abv

Bottle at the Fiddler, Den Haag. A thin and watery porter lacking in the chocolate flavours that should be there. Bad example of it’s style.

50 cl bottle. Dark brown/black colour with light brown, small sized, foamy head. Smells of sweet malts, some roasted character. Taste is a bit bitter with some chocolate/coffee. Watery, light mouthfeel. Better than most folköl but too watered down overall.
