Ingredients: Malts: British Pale Ale Malt, Cara Malt, Malted Wheat. Heather, Bogmyrtle (Sweet Gale).

The Brotherhood have been guardians of the ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) since 1988 and are proud to be the only brewery still producing this unique style of beer and distributing it world wide. A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt character, and a spicy herbal finish - This beer allows you to literally pour 4000 years of Scottish history into a glass.

Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.

Bottle from Tesco, Brighouse. Amber coloured with a thin head. Fruit hopped, although arguably understated. Light and easy drinking in the main, it has a very small fizz in the palate.

Anaranjada y turbia con espuma escasa. Aroma marcadamente floral. Buen cuerpo y sabor malteado, algo dulce y con un predominio final bastante destacado de flores y menta. Receta milenaria basada en flores de brezo. Diferente.

Old rating. Pours clear golden with a big head. Aroma is rather strange with herbs, flowers and heather, as well as old cellar, vegetables and sea side. Nice creamy body, with average carbonation. Flavour is sweet, with roasted malts and toffee, as well as notes of syrup and honey.

Geruch süßlich-blumig, schöne Bernsteinfarbe, leicht trüber Eindruck. Der Antrunk ist mild-süffig, leicht süßlich. Im Hauptteil ist das Bier leicht wässrig. Blumige Süße spürbar. Keine Herbe vorhanden. Auf der Zunge bleibt eine wässrig-fade Note mit ganz leicht süßlichem Touch. 10/12/6/8

Spicy and herbal aroma, hints of almond biscuit (Spekulatius), a floral touch. Taste is floral and minimally dry herbal, minimally sweet pale malty basis, a touch of sugar powder, dextrose.

Classic spice ale based on a 16th-century Scottish recipe, when heather was among the herbs used in beer before hops were generalized. In this case, fresh heather flowers are added to the mash. Original and interesting beer with thin, not stable, snow white head and orange blonde colour close to amber, lightly hazy after adding the deposit. Subtle aroma of caramel, orange peel, apple and clear spices, gale and heather, subjective impressions of vanilla, pine needles and mint. Spicy sweetish taste, impression of artisanal acacia honey, here and there some pungent spices, sweetish fruits, but rather thin finish; mouthfeel thin, soft and oily.
