Ingredients: Malts: British Pale Ale Malt, Cara Malt, Malted Wheat. Heather, Bogmyrtle (Sweet Gale).

The Brotherhood have been guardians of the ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) since 1988 and are proud to be the only brewery still producing this unique style of beer and distributing it world wide. A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt character, and a spicy herbal finish - This beer allows you to literally pour 4000 years of Scottish history into a glass.

Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.

Bottle. Pours clear amber. Aroma is heather, some spruce, berries and fruit, quince. Body is medium, softly sweet, lively but lowish carbonation, rsome peat, low barrel, ginger spice, feels a bit like an older hoppy pale ale. Good!

0.5 l bottle from ’Bier & Beer’, best before May 2018. Clear, golden amber with a medium large, foamy, stable, white head. Sweetish, floral, slightly herbal aroma of hay, honey, heather and some caramel. Sweetish, floral and quite herbal-spicy taste of caramel, honey, heather, hay and some ginger, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly grassy and rather herbal-spicy finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very interesting, not too herbal, quite enjoyable. Okay!

Super clear, just off-copper coloured body with a large, three centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of grass, funk, cardboard, alcohol and a hint of dry malt and sugars. Light-bodied; Assertive funky and pungent cardboardie and very earthy, malty notes throughout with some mellow grain, grassy and even some oaty flavours that dominate the taste. Aftertaste shows a very dry finish with the grass, oak, alcohol and pungent grain front and centre. Overall, a nice rich beer with deep grassy and earthy flavours that show well for the style, but remain pungent and deep for everyone. I sampled this 33 cL bottle given to me from one of my hockey teammates on 08-February-2017 - Thanks Josh!

Bottle from Three Judges, Glasgow. Pours a clear deep golden. A minimal bit of loose white head. Herbal and floral scent. It’s pleasant and enticing if light and a bit generic. Gentle bittersweet taste with a short finish. More floral notes and a suggestion of lavender in the aftertaste. I enjoy the idea of it more than I do the actual beer.
