Every year on the 24th of February, the birthday of "Charles the fifth", the Brewery brews the Gouden Carolus "Cuvee of the Emperor" in a limited quantity and with an eye on the highest quality and tradition. This unique brewing, with only extra fine Belgian hops and with a higher alcohol level, guarantees a better evolution in the time, than the already known Gouden Carolus Classic. The 75cl bottles are closed with a quality cork. Excellent to store several years. This exceptional ale ages well, developing a refined complexity and intense aromas. With powerful notes of roasted malts, caramel and plums, its surprisingly soft and fruity aroma combines a warm roundness with a refreshing taste. An imperial brew to cherish and enjoy in moderation.

bottle. foggy brown colour. huge beige head. stays. aroma: dried fruit, caramel, toffee, vinous, spicy yeast. medium to full body. the taste echoes the aroma. very powerful. really delicious classic

(567 napja palackozták) Sötétbarna szín, közepes, tartós, bézs hab. Édeskés, karamelles, datolyás illatok. Édes, karamelles, enyhén datolyás, vörösboros, kissé vaníliás, fahéjas, hordós ízvilág, aszalt gyümölcsös aromákkal. Az alkoholt sikerült jól elrejteni. Krémes, testes, lágyan szénsavas, enyhén kesernyés. Nagyon finom, kiváló arányokkal és egyensúllyal rendelkező nedű.

Bottle shared with Zlotta and Koelschtrinker. Trübes orange braunes Bier mit einer mittelgroßen beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch nach reifen Früchten, Karamell, Holz, wenig Kleber. Geschmack ist kräftig süß malzig, karamellig, reifes Obst, kandierte Früchte, süß malziger Abgang.

Sampled from 0.75 l bottle from ’BierPost.com’, best before December 2023, about four years old. Clear, very dark red with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly yeasty-spicy and a little fruity aroma of caramel, dark honey, vanilla, prunes and raisins. Quite sweet, malty, slightly yeasty-spicy and a bit fruity taste of caramel, vanilla, dark honey, raisins, prunes and a touch of chocolate, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, slightly yeasty-spicy and a bit warming-alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Good!

Aus der Flasche (Vintage 2010 / bbe 2020) im 2016-11 getrunken. Ende 2014 hatte ich diesen Traumstoff schon mal im Glas. Eins steht fest hier ist pure Freunde im Glas.10/4/10/5/20 Aus der Flasche (Vintage 2014 / bbe 23.06.2024) im 2021-10 getrunken. Diese nun gut 7 Jahre alte Bier ist ein Traum von einem Malzmonster mit einer feinen Spur von Honigaromen. Die Süße wurde es inzwischen doch recht gut abgebaut. Einfach toll das Bier! 10/4/10/5/19

750ml bottle (thx, Alex M.!) shared with George on Greenpoint campground. Dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is brown sugar and dark fruits. Taste is very sweet and fruity. Despite it is too sweet, it is a good sipper and dessert beer.
