Kopi Luwak is one of the World's most expensive and rare coffee varieties. The beans are specifically selected for their ripeness and quality by the civet, a small jungle marsupial that feeds off the fruit of the coffee cherry. They are then gathered by humans from the jungle floors of Indonesia, thoroughly cleaned, and sun-dried. A precise roasting by San Diego's Ryan Bros. coffee leads to an extremely aromatic and exceptionally smooth final product that complements this imperial stout amazingly well. Good to the last dropping!

Bottle received in trade. Thank you biggsbowler! Pours black with a frothy mocha head that leaves a small spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, moist soil, chocolate covered cherries, wood and hints of alcohol. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter, malty and tiny fruity with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, burnt wood, dark roast coffee, bitter, chocolate, chocolate covered cherries and hints of alcohol. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny tart slightly astringent and near full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, dried cherries, moist soil and hints of alcohol. Top notch IS!

Bottle shared at the get Dean to 5000 tasting, as Dean’s 5000 - yay! Pours near black with a small beige head. Aroma of massive roast, espresso, dark chocolate, fudge. Flavour is over moderate sweet and heavy bitter. Full bodied but missing some of the complexity of other top end imperial stouts. That said, still excellent.

Bottle 750ml (PBF IX)
Black opaque collor, small white head. Quite alcoholic aroma. Coffee and roasted maltyness. Medium-bodied. Lots of coffee, alcohol and roastyness. It is a good beer, very coffeish but not as good as basic version.

750ml bottle from a trade, thanks CheapBeerBuzz! @ PBF IX

Pours pitch black with a brown head. Aroma of coffee, roastiness, some hoppiness, espresso, minor fruitness and hoppiness. Taste is roasty and chocolatey with loads of coffee, espresso, some hints of dark ripe fruitness and cherry. Finish is roasty, bitter and very dry with some espresso and dark chocolate notes. Quite a coffee overload, not as perfectly balanced as the regular version.
